BETA097:
Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 20-097.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 20-097.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 20-097.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 20-097.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 20-097.exe
Linux command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... ETA620-097 NOT AVAILABLE
Linux GUI version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... ETA620-097 NOT AVAILABLE

See new Smoothe slider in Loudness window. At 0 the sound should be identical to that of BETA096. Higher values create a smoother, but somewhat softer sound for the mid frequencies (400-4000 Hz). Higher value for this slider means that higher frequency bass distortion can be filtered out. But the CPU load will rise too, and there might be other effects (at 10 it may sound to start weird).

You should now be able to increase the bass clipping level upto 1.0 (100%, 0 dB) without (much) noticeable distortion. However to avoid pumping (the improved filtering causes the output level for the mids and highs to drop a bit if distortion would otherwise be present), I would keep it around 0.90.

Beta97 "Smoothe" 10 - Am I missing something ?
http://www63.zippyshare.com/v/19905787/file.html

btw."Always clip bass bellow" should set maximum bass clip peek level? If yes, that does not working.
Or, there is another way i can set bass to max 90% or 95%?

Auch, bad distortion on some bass sounds.

Could it be that you're using the composite limiter? Because right now it's not (yet) possible to set a maximum for the bass level - and you really need that if you do use the composite limiter. So please turn it off for now...

If it's not that, could you send me your settings?

Hm, if I load your settings and play this track it sounds better than what I received from you! (Although still not perfect).

Did you generate your file using the stand alone version?

Hans,
BETA96 sounds GREAT!!! BETA89 and 79 had a problem with some frequencies. I don't know which filter you added/modified fixed it but it's great now. I have not tried BETA97 yet but I will later.
Thanks.

Hm, the filter might still need some improvement - I still hear some voice vibrations in some tracks. The really bad ones are cleaned up to a great extent, but the mildest ones are not (they don't really get worse when I increase the bass clipping level though).

I'm not really sure if this filter is now worse than the one in BETA079 and earlier - at least some of the vibrations were not cleaned up in that version either. At least for now I'd be happy if things sound _at least_ as good as or better than in version 6.10.

This does not yet explain why Bojcha's sample sounds as bad as it does - it sounds better when I play it (Winamp DSP version).

@Bojcha

Same file, played with your preset.
http://www39.zippyshare.com/v/7716685/file.html

Edit: There's really some difference in the sound between the two. Am I missing something? Mine seems to have more highs but less mids (at least the latter makes sense). You didn't turn the protections off, right? ("Advanced Bass Distortion Protection"). And you didn't turn 'Old-style protections' on?
