Ah ok, yeah I'm using 3 band with:Values of down speed are 20.001 -> 20 maybe fast but good for me. up: 0.8 / 2.5 down: 10 / 10 That *should* effect the speed of all of the windows, not just the center window. Correct Hans? |

up 5 / dwn 20 ? That should make slow compressor from AGC... |

Quote: Between Hans , what happens to the filter that causes about 400 Hz popping sound ( oscillating of the filter ) maybe overloaded ? or code issue ? What do you think
Do you still hear that? It should be gone now, unless you set the Quality slider in the main window lower. What is the type of filter ? like Bessel , Cauer or Chebyshev ? It's none of those... But the problem is caused by the fact that I'm using FFT windows and 50% overlap instead of 75% overlap. At 75% (which would mean doubling the CPU load) the effect should be gone completely. But now I've changed the FFT window shape and the effect should be GREATLY reduced. |

Correct Hans? 5 is indeed extremely high - I should also add that the AGC is not intended to be used as a compressor and might start behaving weird at very high settings (that's mainly true for very high up speeds). |

Let`s say that this will be removed one day . Question : what is the best values for the up and down speeds for the AGC .. to test them . Thank You |

Quote: What do you mean by center/all windows? Frequency bands?
No, multiple time constants, ala "windowed compression" like 90% of all decent AGCs are in some shape/form, at least historically. Things are getting better now, such as the Omnia.11 AGC which is incredible. Almost like magic.

Quote: Try increasing the 'Force level below' slider. That slider is new since some point after BETA079. Its default value is 200% - that _seemed_ to be enough. But if it's not, set it higher. (And let me know
Sure increasing level to ~200 fixes the issue with sudden level drops that I was complaining about. But then I end up getting a boomy sound. I need something sort of clipped sound. If this fixes the issue, please let me know which up/downspeed settings you are using. Currently I have it at 150 and still get occassional level drops. Ideally I'd have liked to get this as close as possible to the 100 mark without any side-effects. Isn't this possible to achieve? |

BTW: With this slider all the way up the behavior should be the same as before I added it. |

Quote: ... If it's a single loud sound (such as a voice, or some instrument) it might be fixed when I improve the loudness detection of the AGC. Can you tell me what you're hearing?
Invariably I have observed this in tracks which have loud bass kicks (obviously retro tracks having wide dynamic range). Sample George Michael's 'Father Figure' for an exhibit. Volume drop is more than what you'd appreciate when the bass kick sets in.Also for tracks which have loud sibilances(usually female voices). If I remember correct, Toni Braxton's 'Un-break my heart' posed this issue among others. The initial betas featuring the re-designed clipper (beta 80's) suffered from stray oscillating voice between the channels. Don't hear it anymore. So, I assume it has been fixed. Had the notion that it stemmed somewhere from the AGC section. |
