Have you had an opportunity to consider more test platforms? One newer, and one older, specifically with an older K8-core AMD (I think Bojcha's X2 system is K8-based)?
Possibly it doesn't matter AMD vs. Intel, but more specifically less than 2MB L2 cache per core.
All I know is that when you quote single-digit levels, I can generally double whatever you quote, at a minimum. For example, you quoted 6%. I'm not sure if that is a delta or absolute, but I can tell you that same settings gives me a 25% delta (25% increase), or about 10% absolute (40 -> 50 in Task Manager, sometimes as high as 55).
