Updated version with new default settings is now available at the same location as before (no further changes). I've been doing measurements all night, and I think the current defaults are the best balance between good loud warm punchy lows and constant bass levels with as little as possible distortion. I'll look into the uploaded presets and try to release the new version tomorrow. |

I have made 2 minor changes: - Slightly stronger filtering against distortion - Punch slider set slightly lower by default - Added Marino's Urban preset Release is coming in about an hour! |

Bojcha: You can attach .zip files... I couldn't find where I can enable uploading other types than some well-known file types in the forum software ![]() |

Good news! I've found 2 more distortion reduction opportunities. 1. Punch is really useless for very low (< 40 Hz) frequencies. But it IS causing distortion. I'm now bypassing it for such low frequencies. 2. You've seen the Bass Boost filter, with which you can boost very low bass sounds without adding (much) extra distortion. Here's the new idea: I've added a 2nd, similar filter, which does the same thing - except that this time I keep the output volume roughly identical to the input volume. Result: Much less distortion on the high frequencies. My first impression is that this new version really sounds better. Beta installers will be uploaded in a moment... |

Links: Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... r_BETA.exe Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... r_BETA.exe Command line: N/A VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... l_BETA.dll 1. Very low frequency punch is now always disabled, this has no effect on performance or latency and it cannot be switched. Slightly higher frequencies (50-100 Hz) are a bit louder than before, the effect on the distortion is very small (but sometimes noticeable in A/B comparisons). 2. The "Extra bass protection" slider is new. All the way to the left = OFF (similar to original v4.21 processing) All the way to the right = Maximum. Deep bass level might be slightly reduced depending on the type of music (dance beats below 50 Hz may be reduced about 0.5 dB (the higher frequencies are getting louder though), for rock music the effect is very little - but the quality does get better anyway). If this slider is NOT set all the way to the left, some extra latency and CPU load is caused. I have some ideas to slightly reduce the CPU load, will look into that later. For rock set it around the default value. For dance you might need to set it a bit lower to maintain loud bass volumes. |

Minor update: I've re-organized up the Loudness window and slightly reduced the CPU load. Todo: - Add SAVING of the new slider setting - Add displaying a value next to the new slider - Maybe also display how much the bass is affected by this slider. |

I see now the needing for this slider. Sometimes in some songs low bass knows to make unwelcome effect on other tones (highs most). With this i think that bass beats are more precise. good job! ====== Uploading files: I found that not on evry topic you can upload files. |
