If anyone wants to test, here's the new Winamp plugin build. Warnings: 1. This version might crash (I've seen it happen here). If it runs fine it's ok, but you might need to reset your settings. There are probably places where it's optimized too aggressively. 2. The sound seems to be slightly different. About 0.2 dB less bass and more mids. Don't know why yet. Might be a rounding issue. http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_stereo_tool.dll |

Hans, Don`t forget to see on page 7 some bugs that i reported , so to be fixed. One with the GUI and one with the Prelimiter- I see a strange signal with 64 to 256 bands and there is screnshot of it. This needs more tests and fixes, i think this prelimiter , especially difference option is not working as it should be . This is my opinion. |

Wow, i just ran some measurements, and some parts of the code got faster when swiching to the new compiler/IPP, but other parts got more than a factor 2 slower - sometimes even upto a factor 7 or 8. If I can fix those things... the CPU load will really go down a lot. The biggest difference is in the Stokkemask calculation, which was already one of the heaviest parts of the code and got 2.5 times as heavy. The 2nd worst is the declipper, which got 8 times as heavy. |

And finally the overall load is how ? compared to the old . Enable all load and compare that way. If we talk about 3-4-5 % - is not worth. But if the code is able to be optimized with new libraries, this is good. |

Appears to be about 17% less. Which is enough to be interesting. On top of that, running a release build with this new compiler takes about 5 minutes, with the old version it takes 1.5 hours. But so far the new libraries make it faster, the new compiler makes it slower again. If it stays that way I might need to stay with the old compiler anyway (but use the new libraries). Anyway, I want to try if I can improve the speed... would be nice to be able to use the latest versions of the compiler and development environment instead of the version that I'm currently using which is from 2007. |

Ummm, If new libraries with old compiler is the best option , then let it be that way. Plus, you know that best things are happened slowly , right ? So 1.5 hours for less CPU load is worth in my opinion .. |

What exactly do you mean with powerful?![]() I assume you mean punchy but without humming. To create this, try the following: Turn off the Bass boost. Also ensure that the old Bass protection section is turned off. Set the band 1 Ratio to a higher amount (try 8:1), set its attack time to a large value (try with several hundred ms), release to about 2s. Also raise the band1 release inertia. Then adjust the band 1 limiter threshold to a value so that normally the base drum doesn´t still reach the Limiter threshold. Then readjust band1 out coarsely. Then raise the Adv. Clip drive to such a high value that it doesn´t sound good anymore (only for the adjustment process), so that you hear the distortion artifacts. Then go to ABDP, start with a bass Clip Level of about -3dB. Set the "dynamically reduce- slider to the left end and Delay clipping to 0ms. Now tune the "reduce bass for mids" and "reduce bass for highs" sliders so that neither the mids nor the highs become suffered from Intermodulation distortion. Then readjust the "dynamic reduce bass" slider to -6dB. Readjust the Clipper drive. Now go to ABDP again and tune the Delay Clip Level and -time for a more punchy bass on a song with a loud and punchy base drum. The delay Clip Level should be around 0. During this adjustments you would have to readjust band 1 out Level. Then you should have a more punchy bass. Regards, Robert |

That's what I'm going to do for now - I still can't squeeze the same performance out of the new compiler unfortunately. I just got the new libs working on the old compiler... ![]() |

Hooray ! Is this mean that still will be some faster preformance on XP? Or the new "libraries only" means that this will be only on Win 7 ? |
