Or not... Winamp had a WMV file loaded and it crashes even without Stereo Tool... I've just started Stereo Tool and I'll let it run all night, will see what happens. |

Quote: I am sorry to inform you, works for a few hours the new version stero tools after crashes
I've tried, but I can't reproduce this (not even with a "debug" build which checks everything and therefore crashes far more often in case of bugs). Also I've monitored the memory usage (for memory leaks), but there are none...I moved to the old version ![]() So, can you give me some more info so I can reproduce your setup? - Do you have a single or multicore PC? - In what program are you using Stereo Tool? - Have you had multiple crashes or just one? And how often (approximately) do they occur? - Which settings are you using? Thanks, Hans |

Ah, it doesn't really crash but it stops responding... Since it's not happening on my system, it is probably timing related. Can I send you a version with extra logging tonight? (Of course I'll first check the code to see if I can explain this myself - but I've done that before when I wrote it and I *thought* that hangups were not possible). I don't know if you can run more tests - because your station goes off the air every time it stops responding... |

Here's a version with extra logging... Stereo Tool needs write access to the file C:\temp\stereo_tool.log, the directory C:\temp must already exist (that should be the case by default). Note that Stereo Tool produces a lot of logging - if your harddisk doesn't have a lot of free space left it might fill up quickly. If you get a hangup, can you send me the first few lines of this file, and the last few thousand lines? The version with logging is: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... _salvo.exe Edit: I did find a bug while looking at the logging... This bug should have no effect on hangups, but it does cause the CPU load on single core systems to be higher than it should be. Will be fixed in the next version (which will probably be released after I figure out where salvo's hangups come from). |

Can you see if the file C:\temp\stereo_tool.log is created? If not, something might be wrong with the access rights... If it's there, it might be caused by the fact that - due to the writing to disk - this version uses more processing power. I've seen it here as well: If I run a debug version (which uses FAR more processing power) in SAM it doesn't play (it stops almost immediately). But if I turn all the processing off in that case it does work. So if the file exists, it might help to turn some of the processing off. |
