One big advantage of the current licensing is that if a pc breaks, you can continue immediately with a new pc without having to wait for me to respond. You don't want to stay off the air until you've been able to reach me. Having said that, an automated process would take care of that... But it cannot have any more checks than this. And if someone doesn't have internet at the broadcast location when swapping a pc that's also a problem.
OK, then it has to be this way that if a ST is activated with a license file designed for other hardware, it should run for e.g. 30 days - time to contact you...

Maybe it needs some thinking-over to prevent any unwanted side effects...

But the idea is basically not so bad, isn't it? ;-)

I have mixed feelings on this... On the one hand, I want Hans to make what he deserves. On the other hand, his structure lets me have a backup PC for stations, etc...

I can't speak for everyone, but I've bought a ton of licenses from Hans, because it's in ALL of our interests to support him. There will always be some ass that will pirate, but also, every protection can be defeated and it takes more resources to stay ahead of that.

I think that by forming the close community Hans has here that the majority of us will every use his product in a malicious way. Sure there will be some, but that can't be escaped, no matter how hard you lock it down. By making it convenient, he gives us backup options and quick recovery from failed machines.

Thats a good point.
Stereo Tool is too good to be true in my opinion. It's an amazing processor that anyone can download for free, get the latest "GAP Knockout" preset and sound awesome right out of the box! As long as de-clipper and advanced clipper are disabled...of course.

HVZ is a genuis! :D

Does not website say it all?

Just sayin' you can use 2 transmitters via MPX output and is difficult to trace, but agreed with the terms of use.
ST is far out the best sounding (cheap) software solution. And for testing purpose you can use the unregistered version.
Just my 2 cents :)

In general, most people will probably use it on a pc with internet though... Either to receive or send out streams or for other reasons.
I have a question: does StereoTool access the license server every time it loads or just upon registration ? I ask that because sometimes we have power and internet outages that happen simultaneously and sometimes we have internet outages that last a couple hours.

Hi Ricardo,

That's no problem, it always stays on the safe side to make sure that you don't get any messages in your broadcast (and in fact, many pc's in transmitter towers don't even have internet access at all).
