Composite clipping, done poorly can be a hideous effect. Yours is amazing, Hans!

You can hear it on-air at several frequencies in your area. Unfortunately still with the old multiband compressor (should change very soon):
Turnhout 95.1 / Aartselaar 106.5 / Berlaar 107.1 / Geel 103.8 / Kampenhout 107.4 / Mechelen 106.6
A few more including 2 transmitters in/near Antwerp will be converted to composite clipping next week.

Aren't these being sold on Ebay?

Some similar you can find on ebay but not complete and not dedicated for composite use.

This sounds real good! Deep and wide with excellent channel separation. So did you broadcast this and then recorded the output? Or otherwise?

But... I don't know the original, would you mind posting it somewhere so we can compare? Also, if you have time could you please do a track by Beyonce or Kanye West (or a similar production) because music like that always sounds like CRAP on CD. Really would like to hear what it will sound like after processing.

Thanks!

This is interesting! I was working on a Stokkemask (ITU-R SM.1268) clipper. This is a standard that is used in the Netherlands (and afaik nowhere else), to reduce disturbances between stations at close frequencies. The way it's described is very annoying (actually it seems nearly impossible to guarantee compliance, and almost no other processor supports it). But it seems to work pretty well now.

But I found out that it's VERY hard to make it work well in SSB mode. In fact, in SSB mode I see a much wider RF spectrum, which means 2 things that are both bad:
- Because the signal gets spread over a bigger frequency range, there's less power at the actual transmitter frequency. Reception will probably be (a bit) weaker!
- Disturbances to other stations at nearby frequencies will be worse.

In practice, this might not be that bad, except when a station broadcasts pure tones - then it will definitely be much worse.

I also found a bug in the SSB implementation, not sure yet what's wrong but pure tones don't come out right when multicore is enabled(music etc. seems ok though). Will look into it.
