Bass sounds in the 2nd version are indeed a bit less loud (and a LOT less distorted).

I haven't yet looked into this (the easy solution that I had hoped to be able to use didn't work), but there is a new version available now where more distortion for loud bass sounds has been filtered out, and dropping volume effects when loud high frequencies (hi-hats etc.) have been reduced a lot.

@ Vamprecords: I finally have some space for that now I have removed so many sliders...

Yes the bass is back :) tested it for about 1 hour and i'm very pleased with this version. Also compared it withe the final 3.40 version and it makes a big difference! I'll continue testing and post more results.. later.

Thx,

/Martijn

Thanks Martijn!

I've just posted a few minor updates (mainly that the output bars are now in sync again). I have tried if I could tweak some settings to make the bass louder, but that doesn't really seem to be possible anymore.

I have a list of 9 things that I still have to do before releasing this version as v 3.50, the bypass button is one of those 9 things... The sound will probably remain as it is now.

*Update*
I think this version is slightly better, but the difference is very very small and almost impossible to hear.

- Reduced "ringing" artifacts on high frequencies (I hope, difference is less than 25 %), and some distortion for very loud high frequencies (but that distortion might actually be a good thing - will look into that further)
- High frequencies are about 0.5 dB softer due to this
- But the low frequencies are 0.5 dB louder.

- CPU load reduced a bit.

Ok, this is odd... Sometime when developing version 3.40 I have allowed a bit of distortion to be introduced in cases where I had difficulty making the sound loud without distortion, to avoid ringing ("swooshy" highs). Now while playing with the settings I just noticed that allowing more distortion is in fact causing MORE ringing.

So I've now turned off the distortion altogether. Another interesting side effect of this is that the output volume is now more constant, which means that the "FM Volume Overdrive" can now be set at higher values (I'm using 105% now using the FM Loud preset with Loudness set to 3.0) - which makes the sound (very very slightly) louder.

Note to Martijn: Don't worry about testing, the difference is really very small. This new version should sound slightly cleaner, and it has a bit (about 0.3 dB) more highs. But I've subtracted the sound of the old and the new version to see the difference, and it's very small.

By the way - try the FM Loud preset with the "up speed (attack)" sliders set to .00028 (or even 0.00044)! Now THAT is LOUD!

But again it's sounding good with this version. Will try tomorrow on air!

Great!

I've just uploaded a new version. Fixed a number of small issues (sound processing unchanged).

Also, I've noticed that the pre-emphasis filter did not match the specification. I've re-calibrated the filter, and now it should match the official specifications. This does have some effect on the sound. For the FM Loud presets, I've updated the presets such that the difference with the previous version is minimal. On an FM receiver both versions sound identical.

Other presets will have more highs from now on (which is probably a good thing). I will update all the presets within a few days.

The command line and VST beta versions are now also working. Links:

Hans,

When i switch presets let's say from web radio stereo to FM transmitter [europe Stereo], the music sounds really weird.. (like robotic voices) looks like a bug...

Also the final limiter bar's ar not working..
