Hello!

ST does exactly what I want but the antiquated X11 interface is superfluous, and consumes far too much resource. The problem is I can't figure out how to use the commandline tool with Jac IO instead of files.

Is it possible to use SC in this manner and if so, how?

You can use the command line version directly with jack.

You can however embed stereotool in a gstreamer pipe or feed the command line version with a FIFO and output to a FIFO, then use e.g. the pipewire fifo plugin to move audio to other ports.
I'd recommend to look at pipewire, it will at some point in time replace jack (and has done so for some already).
