Quick FYI. Hans has not updated the release post for whatever reason(s), yet, but beta 10 releases apparently are on the server. Just change the file names accordingly to download.
For example:
https://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp ... 38-009.exe
Becomes:
https://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp ... 38-010.exe
I got beta 010 as of now and noticed that also. Good information. Hans is probably just busy ATM.
No, 010 just didn't contain anything interesting (only STX changes, so I needed a build for internal testing only). W.r.t. old vs new AGC: When testing with music with very loud vocals, the old one typically responded a few dB less than the new one to those vocals. Which results in a noticable drop in audio (which is bad), but also very consistent levels (which is good - very dynamic audio will be going into the following stages at a higher peak level). The difference is in fact not in the response to those loud vocals (they reach roughly the same levels), but audio with only short spikes - for example a drum with nothing else, or an accoustic guitar - won't be pushed down as much by the new one. I have just experimented what would happen if I make it respond more to those short spikes - and it behaves a lot more like the old one, the drop when loud vocals come in is a few dB less. This may or may not be a good idea, depending on what you're playing and the stages that come after the AGC. It definitely sounds a lot better when you listen to only the AGC. Will be available in the next build, together with more control over dynamic speeds (AGC only for now) and updating of stream ID3 info from a file.
