No! Use the slider in Stereo Tool! Otherwise you'll still get distortion.

(Basically, the signal in Stereo Tool, -32768..+32767, is multiplied with the output slider value to generate the output signal. If the phase differences cause extra spikes (and they will), they will be cut off - hence distortion.

The slider in your display can then be used to increase the output level if needed.

i don;t belive what i discover now...

ESI-Juli@ has some frequency at 101.60MHz (I guess that's internal clock for soundcard Envy cpu) and our radio is at 101.5

Gloop... Is that what's causing the distortion?

I notice another thing with "Highs". Mostly, loud "S" for few milliseconds lowers whole band in multiband not only that particular high band and sound goes down. Sometimes that can be seen in multiband's meters.
On what setting is the Multiband "Limit output" slider set? If below 100%, try 100% to see if that fixes it. (Basically this slider is a singleband compressor, and yes, if loud highs occur, all the bands will be dropped - the highs more than the lows but all are dropping.)

Vibrating voices: curently i fix (not 100%) that by lowering first 3 bands in multiband.
I think lowering the Clean/Punch slider will work better, with less effect on the bass. Do you think that it's worse than in v4.22? Because I hear it in v4.22 as well...

I found 2 memory usage bugs in the latest version (strangely enough the debugger didn't warn about them). I've solved them now but... The performance is reduced again. When that's finished I'll re-upload it, and then I hope that all the bugs are fixed.

Juli@'s freq at 101.6MHz only causes interference on one monitor receiver i have, which is near PC with Juili@.

More or less it's same as in v4.22. But i think this vibration on some voices are caused by some special frequency of low bass. (?)

Distorted highs...
i used well known approach to listen my headphones with low level and lower highs ond my amplifier...
i found plenty songs with distorted highs .. actually beta2 has no this distortion.

Hans, can you play some sine tone more then 6,5kHz thru ST (standalone) and watch multiband ... is this meters or something else?

Bojcha: So to get back on your post from yesterday:

AGC 2nd band
To be done -> Put on TODO list: "Improve AGC behavior: Lock high frequency channel to low frequency channel and make sure that its volume never gets lower."

Multiband going down at loud 'S'
Question: Is this solved by increasing the 'limit output' slider?

Highs distortion
In originals, not a Stereo Tool problem..... (Are you using MP3s? If so, are you ripping at the maximum volume? Because MP3s also change the waveform shape, which might introduce louder peaks than were present in the original. For best quality, use lossless compression like Flac, or at the very least if you do use MP3s rip at a lower level! But I know that you know this, so this is probably not it...)

Oh, about: Loudness is at 2.00. If i push it more .. distortion is frequently more occured, but again if i turn off multiband and level output to be as should, distortion is less even when loudness is >x2.30. - I suppose this is caused by the fact that Multiband increases soft sounds? Same is true for Loudness...

Vibrating voices
Same as v4.22, will look into this later but for now I'm leaving it as it is.

BETA2 Stand Alone not working
New version is being built right now, it took a lot of time to get the same performance that I had yesterday, but I just managed to reach that same performance again. I hope it's working this time (I couldn't reproduce any of the problems you mentioned here, even with the stand alone version. Bugs like this are often very difficult to detect and find and can cause different behavior on different CPU's, Windows versions etc.) Please let me know if it works properly now...

What should I see? (With the broken Juli@ driver it's a bit hard to send sounds to the stand alone version, so if I know what I should see I can check if it also occurs in Winamp).

I always use soft limit in multiband to 100%.

i always use -1dB normalize when i rip CDs. and last year we started to compress in 256k mp3 using latest lame. But do not bother, all critical songs i checked today has small distortion in original CD. Here almost 30% CDs are clipped. Loudness war :|

I hope you have VAC.
Meters are wild on these tones ~6,5khz and up.
