This latest release(both standalone and dsp) is triggering my Avast antivirus> it says it suspects the Win32:evo-gen virus. When I scan the file it does not seem to contain a virus but the file is not executable as a valid win32 application. :o
Having the same issue.

I reported a false positive and disabled Avast for 10 minutes than re-enabled it after installing Stereo Tool. Not sure what's triggering the false positive. The executable will need to be re-downloaded otherwise it won't work at all or be a valid executable.

I had that problem after updating Valve's Steam Client program once. I couldn't get Steam to work after Avast flagged a false positive.

Stereo Tool is safe. I read that a lot of anti-virus solutions are so bad with false positives as of late that corporate IT staff don't often have time to investigate every false positive.

I had to disable Avast just to install an old CD-ROM game that never triggered an anti-virus alert before with Avast.

Anti-Virus programs use millions of small samples each update or signatures that small pieces of the actual virus and it's possible for it to flag a legit program as a virus and miss one that keeps evolving.

No matter what, you should have anti-virus installed and enabled at all times because it can save you from actual attack especially if you visit a shady site by mistake and it blocks you from viewing it.

You can get nasty bugs with a lot of free programs on the web by going accept and next and next and next without seeing if it installs anything else. If a program forces to install something else other than it's self. It's wise to find a different program. Some download sites make you install their own management crap before giving you the actual program (avoid those and try to only get it from the developer's site or approved mirrors) as that's often adware. Stereo Tool does none of this crap.

There's been a lot of high profile attacks over the last few years, so I imagine anti-virus vendors are a little on edge.

BETA 761-008

Windows 32 bit:
Windows stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 61-008.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 61-008.exe

CHANGES:
Changed Attack Time, Release Time, Attack Speed Threshold, Release Speed Threshold to understandable values. Made 1.0 the 'standard' behavior for Shape.

The compressor should be complete now. Maybe some fine-tuning can still be done (esp. wrt Oil Temperature rise and fall speeds and Shape). Of course I still need to add feedback mode, ratio and side chains.

Oil temperature slider will make the time to reach the target level on attack roughly constant regardless of how big the jump in level is. Basically it will make the speed 'stay constant', similar to 'inertia' in the current SB and MB compressors. (But inertia has never worked on Attack and now it does). Note: I still need to make some changes (currently the oil can heat up instantly and that's not good, especially for release, so please don't use it for release; also the cooling down of the oil will affect the attack and release shape and I haven't implemented that yet in my model).

OLD CHANGES:
- Added smoothing to oil temperature behavior for both attack and release.
Added Oil temperature behavior which was missing from my automatic (hydraulic) door model. Will explain below...
- Added another Peak mode slider in "New Singleband". The old one (from yesterday) works mainly on release, but in some cases the volume didn't go down fast enough on a loud sound. The new one works mainly on attack (higher value makes attack continue AFTER a peak.
- Changed Peak mode behavior in "New Singleband".
- New Singleband: Split Speed into Attack and Release Speed
- New Singleband: Made Attack and Release Speed Threshold relative to Speed - so you don't need to adjust it to change the shape.
- Added new Dequantizer filter to increase the bit depth of recordings.

TO DO:
Fix RDS time issue! viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5941&p=28209#p28209
Fix MB frequency band shift (10%, since 7.51 or 7.60)

I see some difference (shift) with MB band visualisation between 7.50 and 7.60.
Is that only display issue and bands behave in same way?

There is a difference, 7.60 has 'limit before compression' behavior which affects the attack speed in some situations.

O crap. Yes. And that's a bug in 7.60! Which unfortunately also affects the sound.

With the latest 2 betas I get:

StereoTool.exe is not a valid Win32 application after I install it and try to run it.

I have tried a number of ways to download it incase that is the issue. The download seems fine and installs without any error but I get the above error when I try to run the program. The older betas run fine.

C.

If I correct display freqs audio will behave as 7.50?
Whether you're planning to fix it?

The beta before these two betas from the new system, i got around 2.5% less CPU load :)
This two last betas now i get " not valid WIN32 aplication" too.
I`m on XP and this problem was occured to other software (don`t remember what) but the solve was from the compiling . Developer reported that he was not included some options when compiling to be XP backward compatible and that is why it gaves "not win32 application" error.
So i guess you compiling to a new compiler on a Win7 may be or some 64 bit Win ?
