Hi everyone!
I installed latest Debian 32bit stable release (v7.4.0), as I read that StereoTool is Debian Wheezy compatible.
I usually do minimal installation, I install the RT PREEMPT official kernel and then "apt-get install gnome-core".
When I try to launch StereoTool (download v7.41, chmod +x) I get "Segmentation error". It opens for less than a second and crashes immediately. The error is the same with Jackd v1 and v2.

I tried to look at /var/log/syslog
Code:
Mar 5 11:08:13 debian kernel: [ 147.977158] stereo_tool_gui[3363] general protection ip:817394b sp:a0967e70 error:0 in stereo_tool_gui[8048000+86e000]
Did you get the same error in the past? How could you solve it?

I also tried a strace of ./stereo_tool_gui and here is the output in case there is any good debugger.

Ok.. it sounds it's something in StereoTool 7.41... With ST v7.31 (found on my backup folder) it works. There should have been some upgrading code which generates crashes on Linux.

Yea, I need to check what's wrong. 7.40 should still be ok indeed.... I will change the links on the site as a short-term fix...

Seems 7.40 worked for the OP's Debian install.

I realize that both Debian/Ubuntu and ST have evolved since then, but I'm experiencing the exact same problem.

Is it possible to download 7.40 and test it with 14.04?

Thank you!

You can add _740 at the end of the link, that will give you version 7.40. I really wonder what's going on though.... :(
