Hello,

eg. only 1 digit after dot/comma is sufficient and easy to use.
Oh i think 1 digit is to less for very slow speeds. If you have e.g. 0.2dB/s for release and you want to reduce it a bit you can't set it to a value between this and the half of this...
It should be at least 2 digits after comma.

Robert

So, does anyone see a difference in the performance?

In my dual core AMD 1.5 GHz system, i notice a 4-5% improvement in performance compared to v7.40, the processor now averages 55% for ST.
The core 2 is a bit more loaded than the core 1. ;)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz win7

19-22%@7.40
15-18%@7.41

A bit better :)

I am also measuring some improvement.. form 38% to 33% cpu usage.

Quite a big effect actually - all of you are reporting around 10% or even more reduction in CPU load! (On my PC I see almost no difference).

Unfortunately I also got a report from someone that this version crashes on loading - so something is wrong. I think I need to release this new version as soon as that is fixed.

Ok, measured with Sevdah web preset:
- There were 58 places where an 'unnecessary conversion' was performed.
- 12 are actually good (it's an unnecessary step to reorganize memory, but the rest of the filter gets much slower if I don't do it). Which leaves 46.
- 32 of those are removed
- 14 remain. If this is really the cause of the CPU load reduction (it probably isn't), it could give another 4% CPU load reduction.

Now I don't know which of the changes that I made have caused the CPU load reduction (I changed a lot of things) but it might be a good idea to also look into those 14 remaining places.

Of these 14,
- 4 are in the 'Stereo Image/AZIMUTH' filter
- 6 are in the AGC + PowerBass
- 2 are in the de-esser
- 2 are elsewhere

Wooha! I was looking at Stereo Image to improve the CPU load, but instead I have now nearly fixed the artifacts issue :) so Stereo Image will be safe to use again :)

That crashy-someone was me. Problem solved: anti-virus (Avast) was stuck in a waiting-for-update mode.

7.41 now loads fine. If I remember correctly which preset I ran the "before" test upon, I too an seeing a 4-5% decrease in CPU load.

Add me to the "thanks for Stereo Tool" chorus.
