Odd. I didn't have much time to test it thoroughly yesterday, so I'll look into it tonight. And I'll make the new filter work in low latency mode.

Found it - I had only solved it partially...

Winamp version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 091009.dll
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/radio_tool_SA.exe

One more question.
I'm finishing things up right now, and I'm wondering where I should put the "deep bass boost" slider. Off = 0, the current default = 100% (maximum).

Advantages:
- More deep bass (below 55 Hz on average 1.5 dB louder! - frequencies around 100 Hz are about 0.8 dB softer though)

Disadvantages:
- Slightly higher CPU load, and higher latency
- All the higher frequencies are a bit softer (there's only so much volume that can be squeezed into a waveform)
- Can cause distortion (even more distortion than without the new filter in certain cases!)

I'm leaning towards "Off", and 100% for the presets where Loudness is very high (say 2.50 or higher). That differs however from the values that you've been testing with.

No more "strange sound" after on/off clicks.

.. maybe 50% !? ..
But this is little different audio picture .. maybe new presets with this filter can be made.

Some good news: I was just comparing the sound of normal latency vs low latency (which does not yet work in the version posted above!), and with the new bass filter the difference in sound has gotten very small - especially for songs with normal (not very deep) bass sounds.

Until now, Low Latency sounded good as long as you didn't use Loudness, but when Loudness is used the quality degraded.

Now, Low Latency is becoming much more usable because the low latency version of the Loudness filter introduces less distortion.

I will post something later today. First I'm going to try to reduce the latency further - because that may also be possible now.

Improved the low latency processing: Much better quality AND reduced the latency.

Winamp version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... atency.dll
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/radio_tool_SA.exe

I'll try to reduce the latency further later tonight.

Reduced the latency in Low Latency mode a bit further.
The "FM Loud Europe" preset with NO FM output (no MPX signal, just the processing) now has a latency of 158 ms.
For comparison: In the original 4.10 the latency was 277 ms, and that was without the new bass filter!

It's still too much to be really useful for live broadcasts, but it's getting much closer.

Winamp version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... cy-158.dll
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/radio_tool_SA.exe

Keep the Loudness value below 2.50 to get a reasonable sound. At higher levels you'll get deformed bass sounds and certain difficult instruments will start to sound bad.

It seems that my latency reduction was a bit too aggressive: The bass sounds were really bad.

Changes:
- Low latency: 22 ms more latency, but it sounds a lot better.
- Normal latency: I've made the same change to the bass processing here, so the bass here should also sound (slightly) better than before.

I found out that with all the new changes, Low Latency mode sounded BETTER than Lo(w) Quality mode. So I've changed Low Quality mode to use the same processing as Low Latency mode, but with more latency (which means better quality).

Now LQ mode sounds MUCH better than before, and uses less processing power.

Release candidate!

I've updated the presets as follows:
- "allow louder lows": By default, if the bass limiter is enabled it is set a bit higher. It should still be low enough not to introduce a lot of distortion, but allows for slightly more bass than the original 4.10.
- The presets with Loudness > 3 (FM Loud/Extreme/Hot), and the Dance presets: "Low bass boost" set to 100%. 0% for all other presets, and as default value. (THAT'S DIFFERENT FROM BEFORE!)

Winamp version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_rt4_420-1.dll
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/radio_tool_SA.exe

Question:
- Should I set "Low bass boost" to 100% for other presets as well? (I'm asking because this is a matter of taste)

For me .. i'll never use bass boost with loudness over 2.50.
That's wha i think.

Overall, great job!
