@Brian :
And why Hans to reduce calculations for something ?
To reduce the quality ?
What he and I are talking about is a situation where, for example, it takes 20 steps to arrive at the needed value, but the code is performing, say, 80 steps. The additional 60 steps don't add any sort of "quality", because the value being passed to the next function is the same at 20 steps as it is at 80 steps. The additional 60 steps then are essentially "waste", not "quality".

Well, he and I agree on streamlining the code. We disagree on when to do it. That's all...

7.01 works fine in Reaper.

some trivia.Did you know that the man responsible for creating Reaper Justin Frankel was also the man who gave you Winamp?

Justin Frankel (born 1978) is an American computer programmer best known for his work on the Winamp media player application and for inventing the gnutella peer-to-peer network. He's also the founder of Cockos Incorporated which creates music production and development software such as the REAPER digital audio workstation, the NINJAM collaborative music tool and the Jesusonic expandable effects processor.

Bojcha managed to reproduce the same problem that shckrck reported, but in Sound Forge. Fortunately that is still available for download. I'm now looking at what happens with a debugger attached, and several things are starting to make sense (including not displaying a GUI; as it turns out in some VST hosts the window is created AFTER the initialization of the plugin, and I fired an event to draw the screen during creation - which of course never reported back that drawing had finished).

Edit: FIXED. There was an internal protection flag to avoid drawing when a window was being destroyed. Unfortunately, that flag stayed active afterwards - so if a VST host would open the same window again (apparently, some hosts open the windows, then close them, then open them again) it failed.

Edit: All seems ok now. I also made the VST window a bit bigger. Build started.

Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 01-003.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 01-003.exe
VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 01-003.dll

DONE:
- VST version should work properly now
- Some presets updated
- Volume increase when loading a preset fixed
- GUI unresponsive at very high CPU loads when you click right of text in text box fix
- Add sound card restart button again (Bojcha just reported that it's missing)
- Fix sound card reset on built-in preset load & FM settings - now making as little changes as possible, hope this is better

Other stuff that I've been pushing forward (and will push forward further for now):
- Add 'purpose based' view on settings (for example all settings that affect bass combined).
- Multi-language support
- Add basic/advanced modes
- Add '-6' '-12' etc. beside output bars where possible.
- Context sensitive Help (help button should be next to the preset buttons)
- Drag (resize window parts) lines, also between to/bottom part (scopes/meters).
- Confirm on close (stand alone version)

Looks like it :)

Tomorrow I'll process any preset updates and build a 7.01 release.

Can you say in which preset(s) they happened? Also important: On first load of preset or on reload?

I did find that the singleband compressor level was always reset to 1 (0 dB, no difference) when a preset was loaded and that could cause such bursts. After fixing that the issue seems to be gone, at least if I reload the active preset. If you load another one though the singleband start level might still be at 1.
