while i am messing with stereo tool for a long while and i get my sound now, but what i never got well is the perfect declipper,
is there some one with a nice preset, sepparate from the basic presets?

Most settings just determine whether a sample is considered to be clipped or not - and what you need depends a lot on the type of music that you play, and how you feed it into the processor (digital, analog, resampling, mp3 encoding).

I can give you 1 setting that can have a big effect on the audio: 'step size reduction'. Higher = better quality (but also a LOT more CPU power).

If you don't use MP3s and don't have analog input, it helps to set the 'MP3 surrounding samples' (or something like that) to 0 - default is 1.

i use mostly mp3 hans, some times i use the vinyl singles, but more mp3 / cd

I basically always use the default settings ("Greedy" preset). They are default for a reason

Only occasionally for tests (when I have a recording that is clearly clipped only at the minimum and maximum level) i change the settings (one of the other declipper presets is best for that, the declipper presets are available in the separate 'Perfect Declipper' product.... Not (yet) in Stereo Tool, unfortunately. But in that case I basically move the level sliders all to 99%, and change the settings I described above. The difference if I do this isn't huge, but reconstruction is slightly better.

As Hans said.. best is default settings for De-Clipper.
But what you want is preset for de-clipper or whole processing preset where de-clipper clearly makes difference?

If whole preset, then first rule is "not loud preset".

Coincidentally, I had the opportunity last week to test a system with MPX-switch 3 to compare processors (Orban 8500, Omnia 6 and Stereo Tool). The Omnia 6 but we quickly ignored by the equations (sounded too bad), in a blind listening test between 8500 and Stereo Tool chose 3 people to every song they heard for Stereo Tool (comments: louder, more bass, warmer, much less distortion). 2 others also, but not blind (they had the thing connected and knew how things were under what button used). The 8500 won by one person by voice because more deep bass.

After testing the 8500 peaked at 77 kHz and Stereo Tool at 74 ...

Incidentally, I had to tweak the preset first to get a better sound, in the first equation the 8500 won most of the time because the sound was clearer - many built Stereo Tool presets seem rather dull in comparison. This is not a limitation of the processor but just the presets, after tweaking the sound was just brighter than the 8500. The final gevonen preset in this test, I will definitely incorporate in the next version.

This preset is actually very simple:
- Load "Bojcha - B-Town 4 (Europe, Stereo)"
- Increase the 9th multiband Equalizer slider from 1.35 to 1.98 - to achieve the same brightness as the 8500.
- Increase Loudness from 3.15 to 3.24 to achieve the same loudness (actually it was louder, we started the tests with the RDS encoder enabled in Stereo Tool...).

I know that Bojcha is working on a much better new preset (sounds much more open) but just these settings should give you a sound that easily beats "Gregg's Open Preset" (if I recall the name correctly) and several others that we tested on the 8500.

Also set Phase Rotator for "B-Town FM" like this...
