Quick question -
With the Declipper, what's the best way to start off?
Can I just turn it on and keep the default settings?
Or is it something that needs tweaking?
I'm not good with sound and these things... ;)
Thanks!

I know, the usability is horrible at the moment. But for most sounds the default settings are good.

If you ONLY play from CD and only want to restore hard clipping (that is, only values +32767 and -32768), then you could change the settings a bit.

The usability isn't bad - I just don't know what things do, and I don't have a great ear to be able to play with things...
For now, the default settings seem to be working pretty well - thanks!

Also, I posted about the new version on the SAM Broadcaster forums (the software I'm using) here - http://support.spacialaudio.com/forums/ ... 20&t=34969
I hope it gets you some new (and upgrading) traffic and customers!

Mmm it would be nice to listen what it does without all the next processing.
Maybe an idea Hans to have something to bypass the rest or to route the output from each stage to a different output/soundcard like the 'processed output' 'low quality output' .... etc. I think that would make fine tuning a lot easier.

@Luke: Hm, did I mention this big redesign yet? ;-) This should be part of that.

For now, you need to turn everything off yourself.

Something strange, but ever since I've updated to 6.20 final my winamp has crashed twice randomly (Just updated yesterday). This has never happened before EVER, and the only thing that has changed is ST 6.20. I've even used most of the 6.20 betas with no crashing issues. So far its been fine today since I restarted everything again early this morning. No crash, but if it does happen again is there something I can look at and give you to maybe give you an idea of the cause, or how I could fix it. I'm hoping it was just a fluke and its will play nice from now on.

@Nuke420: Do you get an error message or does Winamp just disappear? Does it crash after a random amount of time or does it seem to be roughly the same both times? What do you have enabled? (FM output, RDS, Direct Sound Card Access, declipper, Loudness)? If the main window open or minimized? Is a specific file type being played when this happens (WAV, FLAC, OGG, MP3, ...)? In some cases the behavior of Winamp can be very different depending on the input format and the CPU load. (BTW: How high is the CPU load?)

This might be interesting: Could you open up Task Manager -> Prestations and then check if the memory usage is going up while Stereo Tool runs? (If so it would happen very very slowly).

I have not heard any more complaints about this (I suppose someone would have mentioned it if it occurred more frequently).

I do get an error message that says AppName winamp.exe Appver:5.6.2.3173 Modname dsp_stereo_tool.dll modver 0.0.0.0 Offset 0004f543. I always leave the main window open, and seems to crash after about 24 hours of use. I play 99% MP3s, and after I restart it again I'll watch if the memory usage rises over time. Very strange. Never had this issue. Thanks for your support.

UPDATE* I've been watching winamp's memory usage and it is rising slowly. It's gone from 100,000K to 120,000K in less than 45 min. This is new, and it keeps going up slowly.

UPDATE2* Now its gone down a bit in RAM usage. So, I don't know wtf it could be. If it does it again I may try uninstall and reinstall of the whole setup again.

UPDATE3* Memory is not rising. It's staying at 115,768 for over a couple hours now. Also I forgot to tell you what I use in Stereotool. I just do webstreaming so I usually start out with your Webstreaming Soft Compression preset and change some of the loudness down and the Post Amp to -1 DB. I've been doing that since prob ST 4.x something. I don't turn anything else on or off.

UPDATE4* It's about 2:30AM Here and it just crashed on a Queen song. Short 1:45+ song. Nothing different this time either. Memory usage goes up and down, but never gets over 120,000. Would system specs help you in anyway? I just don't get it. I've never had this issue EVER with ST until this release. I'm going to go to bed and then tomorrow I'm going to clean install it all.

UPDATE5* I've tried everything I can think of and after about 300 songs or so it crashes. I went back to an older beta I had and 6.10 and it works fine, but I love the sound of 6.20 FINAL that I put it back on and just keep an eye on it. When it crashes I hurry and look at the song it was on and restart close the error and start it all back up again. Hope you can figure out wtf my issue is. :(

Thanks again, Hans. You've made a great product update once again. Other than this little issue the sound in this version is amazing. Always gets better with every release you come out with. I can't believe how clean the bass is again, and its not making the high distort at all, and the sound level just seems perfectly even during transition every time! Amazing! Thanks again for all your hard work. I think its about time I put my money where my mouth is and purchased a key soon. Taxes are coming back soon. :)
