..Actually I compared Loudness to the clipper in the Omnia 9, a $10,000 hardware box, and the two are virtually indistinguishable.
Strongly agree, been comparing the mpx files encoded by VST to that of the Omnia 9 posted in PFD site.
We actually A/B'd the same recording (Stereo Tool's clipper on the intermediate signal drained out of the Omnia 9 just before the clipper) and even when switching back and forth the difference was hard to hear - the Omnia 9 has slightly better highs, which can be explained by the fact that the clipper is composite, and that's it. Oh and at the time I was clipping the highs harder than I am now, so that could also explain it. BTW: That was before I created the filter that protects highs against distortion caused by loud bass bass, before I did that even the amount of distortion in that case was more or less the same.

On a side note - since you indicated of an upcoming MB redesign, may I also suggest to incorporate standard values in millisecs for Attack and Release times instead of unit less scale for Attack and release speeds.
In the current design those values would not make any sense at all. I have several ideas for a redesign, I want to try out some new idea that I have, if that does not sound good I'll check what others do.
