I have gotten the go-ahead to build two more processors for our classic rock and Latina FM's. In starting the always elusive search for the Marian Trace Alpha card, one source claims it is discontinued! I have to say, the combination of the MTA card and my XP computer has been bulletproof. I am using version 7.4 with my own preset and I do like its sound!

Is the MTA still available?

I bought mine from here (Germany): http://www.musikhaus-korn.de/en/Marian-Trace-Alpha.html

However, I don't know if they will ship to the states...

Alternatively, take a look here (US dealer): http://www.plus24.net/marian/default.asp

Btw, back in the end of February, I contacted Marian, and they had this to say:
Quote:
At the moment the TRACE Alpha is NOT in stock. We can put your order to the backorders and serve as soon as the card is available again. This may take up to 2-3 month.
So - fortunately for us Stereo Tool users, it seems that the Trace Alpha is not discontinued :)

Florida Music offers the card and may have some in stock.

The German place appears to ship internationally, as they take PayPal (usually a good sign). Florida Music, where I purchased my first MTA card (after a delay) is going to let me know if they have stock. This place

seems to have them also.
Of course, everything is hurry, hurry here so it will be interesting to see what comes from where.

The motherboard I use is a BioStar TZ77B, BTW. I use a SSHD (don't remember the brand)

I have three cards on the way from Florida Music. Two to use and a spare!

They still haven't surfaced yet, but an issue has come up. What format is the Trace Alpha's digital output? I need it to drive a digital STL with an AES input. This will require an RCA to XLR adapter.

On a side note, the adapters I make to convert a 1/4" output of the Trace Alpha to Composite out... I use a Tip/Ring/Sleeve phone plug, connecting the center pin and the ring only. Not the sleeve. In other words, the tip connects to the pin of a BNC connector and the ring connects to the shield. I would attach a picture but can't here.

Why you don't connect the sleeve to ground?

For some reason, that didn't work. Works fine this way.
