Hello to this valuable forum!

I was wondering if ST does high quality resampling as my automation only outputs 44.1 and i need ST to output 192 mpx.

What if I set the sample rate of ST at 44.1 on the input side, does the output change to 192 by its self? On the documentation it is written that only if you have 48khz input ST can multiply by 4 the output and give 192 but is that possible when setting 44.1? Of course you can’t use ASIO while doing that but I was wondering which is the best way(no hardware needed) to do this kind of resampling.

Thanks!

Do you really need 192 kHz MPX? Stereo Tool will generate 176.4 (4 x 44.1) kHz MPX if you use 44.1 kHz input, and almost all sound cards support that as a native frequency.

I don’t know the difference between 176,4 vs 192 kHz to be honest. What do I lose if I go to 176,4? All I want is a full mpx with stereo and RDS with composite clipper etc. can all this happen at 176,4?

I thought that only with 192 you can get RDS. Anything else (lower) will only keep mono + stereo of up to 96khz.

Right now I use Windows’s crappy resampling but i thought there was a way to do that through ST.

Thanks for your time hans!

Nobody knows the difference between the 2? Or any good way to resample audio?

No ST does not do resample. When you set some samplerate in it, means all inputs and outputs are that sample rate. You can have 48kHz input and 192kHz output only because multiplier is round number. That's why 44.1*4 is 176.4 where, yes, you can have full FM since RDS is going no more then 60kHz. (samplerate devide by 2).

Once you see separate samplerate option for inputs and outputs, you'll know that ST do resampling.
