That looks identical to my Realtek ALC4042, so that should work great! In case it is in the near vicinity of strong EM-fields (i.e. TX-antenna), you can solder in a simple filter on the board like so:

This will prevent dc-shifts on its output due to RF-rectification, since it is a capless design.

ST cal. params in my case:
Lows tilt +45 µs
Highs dropoff 1.800

I am interested to know what sort of output voltage is possible from these types of DACs. Are you able to make 3.5 V peak to peak?

I tested quickly on one not so great transmitter, and looks fine, plenty of level, tilt is minimal, slight correction for 'highs' needed, but that also might be because this transmitter.

KS, MME, DS, Wasapi, all working, didn't have time to try Asio/for all.

According to the datasheets of both the ALC5686 and the ALC4042, max output voltage for these DAC's sits just at about 1 Vrms (about 2,8 Vpp). For the ALC4042 I even measured a bit lower than that.
ALC5686 datasheet
ALC4042 datasheet

Looks like the 5686 even has a slightly better SNR!

Would be very interested in Bojcha's attempt to get it working with ASIO4ALL. I'm not familiar with ASIO just yet, but I would surely like to get latency down.

Please, anybody, correct me if I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that ASIO4all was a KS wrapper to make it work over the ASIO API(APO?); as opposed to a native ASIO device that can be controlled more directly by Windows. Thus the latency still revolves around KS capabilities, no?

For what it's worth; I asked ChatGPT and the short answer is that ASIO4ALL is a KS-wrapper indeed and just provides ASIO functionality, but without the low-latency advantage of a native ASIO-driver (i.e. no direct HW-access).

Thank you @Bojcha and @Pethunia. This is useful feedback. At the price point it might be worthwhile getting one and just testing it out. Would be interesting to know if there are any implementation differences between manufacturers.
