Hi guys,

I just did the update to the new version of stereo tool and i got my pc running very slow, CPU Usage went from 40% to 80-90%
doesn`t matter if i change to lower quality, i used it before on high quality and everything goes very well, now it changed and before to switch back to the past version i want to give it a try to this with the support here.

Sorry i forget to say that i use the tool with sam broadcaster 4.3.6

Thanks

Ok, that's bad... I have a few questions:
- Which Stereo Tool version did you use before?
- Are you using a specific preset? (If you use your own: Which filters are turned on?)
- How fast is your PC (CPU speed)?

Based on my own measurements, Stereo Tool 3.50 uses about 10% more CPU power than version 3.40. But much depends on the settings. Especially the Final Limiter has become much more expensive than it was before.

I've just done a quick test with this preset in Winamp, and the difference in CPU load between the two versions on my pc is less than 2%.

I'll test it in SAM later today.

I've put versions 3.30 and 3.40 back on the download page. So you can get them there.

How much CPU load difference do you see on that other pc?

I'm testing with SAM right now, so far the CPU loads of 3.40 and 3.53 are almost identical - 3.53 even seems to be slightly lower... (both use 13-15% using the Web Radio (Stereo) preset).

I've tried what happens in 3.53 when I switch from High to Low quality mode, the CPU load dropped to around 10% - clearly a lot lower (so it's very strange that you don't see any difference when switching to Low quality mode).

I did find a bug: If I deselect Stereo Tool 3.53 and then select it again, the sound is very bad and the CPU load is higher... The only thing that helps is closing SAM and re-starting it. (Probably caused by the fact that SAM doesn't really unload the plugin, and only asks it to restart. Winamp doesn't do this. I probably need to reset some values when a restart occurs). edit: this was a very minor problem, and I've fixed it in version 3.53 without increasing the version number. If needed (ie. if you use SAM and you want to unload and reload Stereo Tool), just re-download 3.53 to get rid of this problem.

Can you try if it helps to restart SAM after selecting the plugin?
