I was wondering if the VST version would work in a daw that runs VST plugins . Example, could I run it as a plug in in a stereo tools equivalent daw running a mbox that uses VST plugins. Run it behind the plug in chain ? I know stereotools doesn't run VST plugins without a mod program, but there are others that accept VST plugins directly.

I don't understand your question, really. The VST plugin version of course works in a DAW that runs VST plugins.

I guess what he meant was having it implemented in the daw as real time vst.

It's something like a vst behaving as a the dsp or the stand alone ones.

That is how it works in my experience. You'll need to set the DAW input to the correct device, perhaps needing to use a virtual cable/pipeline.

In fact, I mostly use the 32bit VST2 plugin through another processor (BreakawayOne) for when I need to bypass ST for ultra-low latency while still needing slight conditioning (like when playing games). Like the stand-alone and the DSP, the VST needs to hold a short buffer of the audio so it can apply its effects before playing it back. So it's not perfectly suited for instant HQ monitoring.
