I'm new to ST and was using Bojcha's StarGate Ultra preset, and all was great until I rebooted the PC for an update, and when it restarted everything, the sound was muddier than before. I checked the EQ settings in the encoder to make sure they didn't get activated. I switched to Unreal Engine 3 which was a bit better on the highs but I had to turn on the encoder EQ to boost the highs slightly, something I didn't want to do.

I'm not good with settings in ST so I prefer the presets instead. Any idea why my highs went away with the reboot?? I think if I can fix this I'd go back to StarGate Ultra.

Great product and thanks for all your help everyone. :)

This is not problem with ST, so put back preset you used.
Something after update happened with your soundcard(s), so check that. Also i/o settings in ST

Thanks for your help Bojcha and the good work on the presets.

I am running my streaming station on a Dell mini PC that doesn't have slots for a sound card so I'm using a cheap Sound Blaster Play! USB soundcard and it may not be good enough, although I could use some advice if there's something better.

Also the output setting on ST goes to the soundcard input, is that correct? I assume that feeds the encoder (BUTT).

Also you mentioned looking at the ST I/O settings, what should they be?

Thanks again.

You don't even need soundcard, except maybe for monitorting.
in ST for stream you just need cable1 as input and cable2 as output which goes to the streaming software (butt).

And if you want to hear it, use LL monitoring in ST output with your soundcard.

Notice about LL output, it's lower quality and for some reason does not have SYNC with input, so expect buffer to disappear sometimes.
