My streaming station plays a very diverse collection of music. Some are highly produced (dense) pop and others are older folk with a much wider dynamic range.
I've been hunting for adjustments in the AGC to drive the downstream processing
less for already dense music and drive the downstream processing
more for music with wider dynamic range. The goal is to have a similar density of sound after all of the processing.
My current investigation has been focused on the AGC Detection RMS setting. I'm currently using 6ms for RMS detection - peaks will influence the AGC but still allows dynamic music to be more heavily processed than songs that were mastered with heavy processing. My goal is something similar to an LUFS detection of the incoming music.
I'm curious about what experiments other folks have tried.
