The new AGC in ST is improving, but I am wondering if there is benefit in placing an Ariane leveler before ST, and would this affect declipping in any way?

From what I understand, any multiband leveling, compression, or resampling will affect more than just the true peaks. This could lead to some clipped sounding edges not being detected as clipped. I believe the declipper requires the rawest signal available, so that's why it comes first (even in Omnia processors with Undo, before the multiband expander half).

And this is likely why the VST plugin host is set where it is (for HVZ's declipper) for another processor whose forum I saw you ask this in. For that processor, try Stereo Tool as a VST plugin for the multiband AGC to give you an idea of what sending an Ariane signal into that processor would sound like.

hello ...yes you can bcs it's an AGC – well it's THE AGC for anyone who wants to pre-process to send correct levels to another processor, protect an STL or level audio on a digital radio
