I am looking for a way to take care of glitches that are heavily panned to either side of the stereo image, far beyond where the non-glitched audio is placed. Ideally, I would like to reduce the amplitude of such sounds, but if that is not possible, moving them towards the center would also be okay. What I don't want is to simply narrow the whole stereo image of all sounds. Is there a way to accomplish this with Stereo Tool? |

I've seen this challenge with 60's Motown recordings that are hard-panned left and right. I found some relief by setting the AGC to treat all incoming sound as mono - that is, it links the gain reduction for left and right the same, dependent upon the loudest sound in either channel. This keeps the stereo image more centered. Is there a way to accomplish this with Stereo Tool? In the Behavior group box, find the Channel linking control. Set Channel linking to zero. |
