Post subject:  Dealing with brickwalled CDs

Hi and good day to everybody,

I would like to know, how can one succesfully de-clip brickwalled CDs?

My plan is to de-limit some heavily brickwalleded CDs that I own, which all have a Dynamic Range (DR) of 6-8, so that they do not give me too much “ear fatigue”. I am listening through headphones with my concentration on the music.

It would be great, if anyone could give me kind of an instruction or some guidance, because I do not know for certain what it is that I actually need.

Cheers
A.

As name say, you can de-clip, so not to de-limit.
However, as far as i know modern CDs are usually clipped. So do some checks with scope.

What to do highly depends and the source material. There is plain straight clipping, tilted clipping, titlted and stragiht clipping mixed together, straight digital and some analog clipping, completely fucked up shit that has clipping that crosses 0, hard limiting that almost looks like clipping, strong compression that does not look clipped at all... Most of these can be improved, but there is no setting that works for everything.
