Are there parameters for opening stereo tool gui (linux version)? I would love to specify the jack ports that that Input Left and Input Right connect to.
I am using it with VLC. They have promised to add a jack port name option to the next version of vlc-plugin-jack which will allow you to specify the name of the VLC jack port.

Even without this, I can use ps, grep and sed to manufacture the port name of the present VLC instance.
This way I could write a script that
opens VLC
starts VLC playing
determine its jack port name
open stereotool and tell it to connect to that instance's jack ports.

Is there a way to do this?

I guess another nice choice would be for StereoTool to be able to listen to an icecast or shoutcast stream directly, or even use SIP to connect.

Not at this moment :(

You could - if you're writing a script anyway - add some code that places the Jack names in Stereo Tool's .ini file...
