Hi folks at Thimeo! I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while, and today's news of Xbox Series X's backward compatibility being capable of turning SDR titles into HDR titles through a reconstruction technique made me finally post something. Here's the original blog post from Microsoft mentioning it: https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/05/28/ ... atibility/

Have you tried your declipper or dynamics filters on any image formats to create an HDR image from an SDR one? Like turning each axis of the color channels of an image into strings of pixels, that could then be read as low intensity to high intensity in the form of a signal? Then reconstruct more data inside the flat pieces based on surrounding recursive data? Then be recombined and averaged together in a more dynamic looking image?

If so, and it's not classified, can we see a demonstration?

This auto-HDR from SDR thing is now available for a Windows insider build if you wanted to play with it or give it a closer look. https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/ ... ble-today/
