Post subject:  Hello. Hopefully you can help

Im looking for an application that can process live mic input for the use of pre processing studio vocals. My aphex channel strip failed and im unsure as to whether i should get another one or invest in stereo tool+ the BIMP.

I am using an earthworks QTC 40 coupled with a steinberg UR242 interface. I game on my desktop so specs arent an issue.

What im looking for is the ability to process sound on the fly and on pre recorded vocals- With features similar to that of a channel strip such . Is there a de esser in stereo tool? Can anyone tell me how the auto eq works? What about the BIMP? I find the documentation lacking.

I aim for a smooth consistent vocal with spectral balance. I voice in particular benefits from multiband compression so this progran seems good. Ive tried breakaway one, and all of my vocals sound overprocessed and harsh with the given presets, even with tweaking. One thing i miss from the aphex unit is the one knob de esser. It worked wonders on smoothing out the mid highs, and the high end without taking away its 'brilliance'. I havent found a vst plugin that comes close to that knob.. im hoping someone could chime in.

Hi,
You can probably do everything you need with the free version of Stereo Tool - try the "Syrtho" preset under "Generic presets". You can tweak it if needed, but by default it sounds close to several famous voice processor boxes.
