Any way to increase the kbps? To me it sounds like all the file shared mp3s of the mid 2000s.

We used to broadcast higher but decided there is no value in that. Maybe you think the sound resembles the mid 2000s because of the v shaped signature and warmth. In fact it is a sound we tried to emulate.

ok this is stream link: http://fradiogr.com:8008/frgr.mp3

Anyway, me personally never liked that spectrum, V shaped sound around 1.5kHz. Also truly sick highs. I made myself to listen this for 5 minutes and that's it. Unnecessary loud too. Also really bad mp3 artifacts in stream. Classic mistake when bass is not present everything goes even more louder.
I think, for this type of music all can be nicely and differently processed.

You might find changing the codec from mp3 to aac at the same bitrate might make the world of difference to your sound, particularly with regard to artifacts. :)

The 90s called, it wants it's mp3 codec back.

I think mp3 was great back in the day, but there are far better options today.

Thank you all for you input i really appreaciate it.
We mainly use MP3 since all we play is Dj sets send to us mostly at 320kbps MP3.
Also ACC is not natively supported yet for Streaming in StereoTool.
Anyway now the stream is at 256 kbps MP3.

@Bojcha i made some changes based on your recommendations. Also decreased loudness a fair bit.
At least some of our listeners made positive comments so this is a good start i hope!

Why don't you go all the way to 320K for MP3?

You could use an encoder supporting AAC such as BUTT (if you are not using a Raspberry Pi that is!) - it appears to support AAC encoding out of the box.

But the biggest issue you have is your source - if you could insist that your DJs send sets in a higher quality format (hi res) such as FLAC or WAV, then at least your source is no longer the weakest link.
