So will 32bit 7 Pro be as solid/reliable as XP Pro?

I have just updated the initial post: With version 7.40 the required CPU speed is a lot less (when I wrote the post I could not run a complete preset with Stokkemask filtering on my laptop, now I can and I have some headroom left).

@ Hans
A memory card is not realy a wise thing to use i think
Memorycards cant cope with the continious writing in F.I. windows pagefile.sys
SD Cards have a limited read/write cycle
The cells wear out to fast causing problems
Pagefile.sys can be disabled but that can cause problems as wel.

I would use 2 single platter 5200RPM laptop disks in raid 1 or a single SSD like a 64 GB samsung 830 30% over provisioning

If you only run Stereo Tool you shouldn't need a pagefile - and if you have one it shouldn't (yes, I know, shouldn't) be written to if you only run Stereo Tool.

I have re-run the calculations for Stereo Tool 7.71, and now it seems having 700 as Single Thread Rating in Passmark is sufficient. (That assumes that you're using 'Ignore highs frequencies', which slightly increases the latency). Without it the value should be around 800-900.

So, with te new version (7.71) it's possible to run an instance, just for web, with a core2duo e7600?
With latency at 4096 and quality at 100%.
Here passmark. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu ... 40+3.06GHz

Those Core2Duos were good overclockers ;) You might consider OC that thing, as Bojcha said :D - today I will test my G1610T, 2300 passmark, 2.3 GHz 35W desktop CPU (you can get it -used- for about 10 bucks!). And faster G1610, 65W - even cheaper :D
