Hi all,
i have the following problem, and hope that somebody can help me out.

Yesterday i hooked up the MPX out of ST to my transmitter.
Turned off the clippers, pre-emphasis and stereo in my transmitter, and calibrated tilt correction.

Everything went well, got good stereo seperation and smooth running RDS on my tuner.
The sound however, sounds bad.
I would describe the sound as a low quality MP3.

When ST is set to normal output, and stereo, pre emphasis and clippers enabled in my transmitter, the audio is great!

Preset used is the 80'
OS winxp
scard @juli
ST set to 192 khz, 1024, quality 100%
mpx out enabled
stereo&rds enabled in st
pre 50uS in st
One channel of my @juli connected to my mpx in of my transmitter.

clippers stereo pre in transmitter disabled

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Ronald

Is the 'Normal output' good?
And are you sure that the stereo encoding is really switched off? If you stop Stereo Tool, there's no signal left - at all?

Yes, because when i enable mpx in on my transmitter stereo is automaticly disabled.
Also stereo carrier is gone when ST is closed.
But i will hook up an home brew transmitter, to check if the fault isn't related to my factory transmitter....

For sure, stero, clippers, etc.. in transmitters should be disabled. You need pure MPX input.

I guess you use Standalone ST. Please check does Juli@ shows 192kHz sample rate while it's on "auto" http://i.imgur.com/WmtAVt6.png.

I am using standalone, now for a long time, with juli@, and i ever had that problem. "Bad sound' is bit small information to determine what's wrong.. Atleas can you record some music from your tuner? If you can, at some point of recording turn only L and then only R channel so we can also check separation.

I'm very very shure that all clippers stereo and pre emphase is off, but i will double check it.

And your guess is right, i use the standalone version.
I will check samplerate tonight, because now you mentioned it....it IS still on auto!
Maybe this is my problem then, but when it is....i got running RDS, and that only works on 192Khz?
Anyway, i the problem is still present after changing samplerate to fixed setting, i shurely will record some audio.
Thanks Bojcha!

Found the problem!

1) pre emphasis was enabled in ST , but pre-emphasize out was not yet enabled
2) My transmitter had some problems with the MPX-EXT mode.
I disconnected the stereo board, so my transmitter doesn't recognized it anymore, and now MPX-EXT works perfect.
3) I noticed that the sound of 70' 80' dutch folk music was way better than recent hardstyle music.
I listened very closely to the original source of the folk music and hardstyle, and noticed that the hardstyle music from original source was already very processed.
So thru ST this was amplified again, and thats why i noticed this as "distorted"
After adjusting the input level and pre-amp, sound is now wonderful!

Thanks all for replying!

Regards,

Ronald

I also would like to add, that loudness and stereo seperation has improved drastically, with use of FM out in stead of using ST normal out and my exiter's clippers and stereo.
Funny thing is that my exiter already ( siel exc105 ) has relative good stereo and clippers standard on board!
Also RDS carrier of ST is much better then my PIRA32 RDS, with minimum reception on my car's tuner (Pioneer DEH-P88RS-II ,with signal meter ;) ) rds is still running!

I'm am very very very happy 8-)

I'm really curious!
Especially because loudness is now almost equal to most commercial stations with the big hardware boxes!
I'll wait with testing, untill someone ( you or jeroen ) will post a preset for the new clipper.
Unfortunally, i'm not an advanced tweaker with the skills to get the best out of ST.....
