Hallo mede gebruikers!

Gr Kay

This will sound strange, only and safe way is to connect RCA's from mixer master output to XLR's soundcard.
That will give you nice headroom on soundcard' input and don't worry, sound will not be bad!

Okay...thanks for your answer bojcha...but i dont agree 100% with you.

Why would you take the rca monitoring output instead of the head xlr output from the mixer?...
I nether see the difference, the problem is that the input goes way to loud! In my zalman hd160xt pc i have a marian trace alpha placed...which come with an software mixer so you can lower your gain. Then the problem is solved.
The m audio doesnt come with that.

My mixer is an d&r airmate mark 3 if you want to know...

You need master RCA output on mixer.
RCA is usually around 0.7v (upt to 2volts) input/output and XLR is around 1.5v (up to 4volts) input/output. So In this way you feed 4v with 2v wich is translated in dB's around -8dB of headroom.
You can also do same with XLR to XLR but with speacial cables with resistors.
