When the time has come that the old multiband will be replaced by a RMS based (plus ratio and knee charactersitics) new multiband with less bands, what will happen to all the presets ?

I guess it would be very complicated (or even impossible) to automatically convert all presets for the new multiband structure.

Wouldn`t it be easier to keep the old multiband - instead of to remove it completely - and rename it in the GUI to something like "Dynamic EQ" !?
Inside STS presets it could keep its old name (because only advanced users manually edit STS files).
And the new multiband and it settings could be saved in STS as "Professional Multiband".

Probably. The current multiband section has some unique features that won't come back in the new design, so it's probably a good idea to keep it available anyway.
