Hi,

Today we need to use VPN or have ports open on the decoder side in order to get access to encoder stream. Is it possible to have an option to have it the other way around?

Encoder: fixed adress exposed to internet. Open ports for each decoder/destination.
Decoder: type in adress of encoder and port. In this was the decoder can be behind a firewall without fixed ip adress. On the second nic maybe a mobile broadband modem can be used.

Remote control: Simple proxy so that we can control the decoder from the encoder side.

Kind regards,

Alf Ivar

You may want to consider Tailscale.

They use WireGuard as a transport and will make best effort to get peer to peer connections, falling back to a bounce server if both ends of the connection don't have public addresses or firewalls are too strict.
