Hi,

at home I use stereotool in a desktop environment, listening to things during work. When I don't have any music, ST still needs considerable CPU time and the CPU is not throttling down.

How about an automatic standby, that puts ST to bypass if there is no signal input?

Could be useful for other cases where there is no constant input as well.

Quite a number of plugins have this feature and Studio One implements it on the DAW level.
It can save quite a lot of CPU, especially if using multiple instances for mixing.
Most just turn off processing when receiving pure silence however this can prevent it from engaging even with -200dB input. The DSEQ implementation is the most useful since it allows for a custom threshold.
