the file C:\temp\stereo_tool.log does not exist

Can you see if the file C:\temp\stereo_tool.log is created?

If not, something might be wrong with the access rights...

If it's there, it might be caused by the fact that - due to the writing to disk - this version uses more processing power. I've seen it here as well: If I run a debug version (which uses FAR more processing power) in SAM it doesn't play (it stops almost immediately). But if I turn all the processing off in that case it does work. So if the file exists, it might help to turn some of the processing off.

And the directory C:\temp exists and is writable?

(Just check by trying to create a file there)

You don't have a C:\temp directory! Please create it, then try again.

THAT is really weird!

Can you send me the log file (C:\temp\stereo_tool.log)? Please mail it to mail@hansvanzutphen.com .

I may be onto something now... I've updated the file with some extra logging that might show either hangups or crashes like the one you showed in this image.

Could you try the following?
1. DELETE the log file: C:\temp\stereo_tool.log
Otherwise it will get VERY big and probably too big to send through email...
2. Download and install the latest version with extra logging: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... _salvo.exe
3. Run it, and see what happens. If a crash or hangup occurs, please mail me the log file.

I'm running it here too now with the extra logging, but so far I don't see anything special happening...

Thanks,
Hans

Edit: I think I see what the difference is between my tests and yours. On your system, and this is probably a setting in SAM, the blocks that are being sent to Stereo Tool are much smaller. That changes the timing behavior, and I think this is a timing problem. And what I think is happening would be much more likely when using smaller chunks of data - which matches the fact that you do get hangups and crashes and I don't.

I'm still not sure about the cause of the problem, but I have found and fixed a problem that I think COULD cause hangups. I have removed the extra logging.
