Hi,

Being a long-time user of both the free MediaPortal HTPC front-end and Stereo Tool, I'd love to be able to use both at the same time. The problem is that Stereo Tool crashes when changing tracks a few times (click F7 or F8) in a row in MediaPortal:
Code:

I have tried a few versions of the VST DLL but the result is the same. The error report is from using the current 7.40 release.

Thanks in advance for your help.

BR,

-P.

P.S. Using the Winamp DSP version is currently not a solution for me, because of stuttering sound during track crossfade with BASS music player engine and WASAPI playback is currently broken on my hardware.

This is an odd one. Because I think the VST plugin doesn't even know when a new track starts - so how can it respond to that?

Have you by any chance ever tried another VST module, preferably one that is similar in CPU usage?

No, unfortunately I don't have much experience with other VST modules. Another MediaPortal user mentioned in one of his posts using Classic EQ and I just tried playing around with it for a few minutes & a couple of dozen track changes. I was unable to make it crash.

If you know another VST module that compares better with Stereo Tool's CPU usage, I'd be happy to give it a try. Here are my system specs, in case they play a role:
  • Windows Version: Windows 8.1 Pro x64
    CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-3570K
    Mainboard: Intel® Desktop Board DH77DF
    RAM: 8 GB
HDD: 30 GB OCZ Vertex 2.5" SSD
Even with Declipper activated, I don't see ST pushing the CPU very hard.

Hi,

I did some more testing with previous versions of ST available on the download page. Something must have changed between versions 6.32 and 7.23 that causes this issue, because version 6.32 does not crash and version 7.23 does.

Hope this helps.

-P.
