BETA003 shows BETA002 in stereo tool
Ah, never mind. Nothing was changed for Stereo Tool anyway. I've removed the links.
the file size is different so there must be some change (64bit stand alone).
beta 2 = 17,988,475 bytes
beta 3 = 17,976,686 bytes

Some more fixes.

Latest version - Beta 004 (September 7 2021)

Downloads
Changes/bugfixes
  • "After updating to Stereo Tool Version 9.80 the STS file polling no longer works. Can You confirm that?" -> Config settings aren't loaded anymore for safety reasons, added a setting for that.
  • UECP issue with / , and All ?!? -> / was not handled correctly, solved.
  • All ARM builds (including MicroMPX libraries) now use the new compiler with better file-specific optimization settings (between 1 and 4 % performance improvement).

Previous (BETA001/BETA003) changes/bugfixes
  • Fixed Declipper crash in BETA002
  • Improved performance on ARM with new compiler settings and version
Previous (BETA001/BETA002) changes/bugfixes
  • VST resizing (Declipper)
  • Update DLL version numbers
  • Update version number
  • MicroMPX: Some minor Pi performance optimizations
  • Mac version crashes on close on Big Sur TEST BUILD RUNNING... -> Does not reproduce, and no longer happens on the system of the person who reported it after removing the .stereo_tool.rc file.
  • CPU settings: Latency mode 2 cores 2 threads didn't set affinity for the sub-core.
  • VST Declipper CPU settings are a mess, removed most of them (not relevant anyway)
  • GCC FFT compiler settings
  • Mac version crashes when loading preset file with affinity info Fixed for stand alone, now also reported and not yet tested for VST plugin
  • Old preset with no "Legacy" clipper mode setting available: Automatically upgrade to new clipper settings without asking (now upgrades to the way to mid-heavy version). Same for built-in presets that use "Improved" clipper mode, since for built-in presets, sounding good is more important than sounding exactly the same as a year ago.
  • GUI: Max Attack/Release Speed values are displayed incorrectly (the behavior is not affected)
  • Command line version: Linux add support for large files (>4 GB)
  • Command line version: Error end of file, why? - does not happen with normal .wav files, ignore...
  • Command line version: Flashing meters fixed, might also perform a bit better.

Known issues (reported in this forum thread or elsewhere):
  • GUI: Clicking on "SB" doesn't take you to the SB settings (does not reproduce here)
  • Foto front panel met kleur
  • RELEASE

Hans,

Is it possible to add signal SIGHUP to stereo tool to toggle the bypass switch?

This way it's easier when you are listening and want to compare the input to the output when
doing something else on the computer, so you don't need to find the right desktop and then find
the cursor to move to bypass location of stereo tool (ie interrupting your work).

Oh! This seems to only happen on presets from the Recent list. I noticed this last night and confirmed it again just now. It acts normally if using a built-in preset.

edit: Ok, it's being inconsistent again in beta 5. Sorry if this turns out to be false.

edit2: Hm, it's acting normally if Singleband is ON. Not necessarily if it's loaded from a preset.

edit3: Seems to only happen when it's not named "Stereo Tool.exe" .... should this matter at all? My VST is also named something else. I can't get it to happen when it's named correctly. Weird.

Hello Hanz, is there a possibility of inclusion in the micrompx decoder, regarding the calibration by frequency as in the ST? and if there is this possibility, could the calibration frequency be started at 15hz instead of 20hz?

Hm, there is a marketing advise to show the highest price first, and then when people see the price for what they need is lower... but I guess it might work in both directions.
This is known as the "Door in the Face" technique (basic psychology) but it only works well in person. Basically, you state the highest price and then say something like "but for your purposes, we could bring it down to X amount." This instills gratitude in a person and they think you are cutting them a personal deal if they don't know how it works.

However, for websites with no human interaction, you should always show the lowest price first as it instills the "upgrades are possible" mindset. I would also HIGHLY recommend putting something on there such as "pay for what you need now, upgrade in the future piece by piece as needs arise"

This is what I have done, I bought the basic package first for the (amazing btw) declipper and over time purchased what I needed. It's an amazing way of doing it and yea If I had seen the initial high price I would have laughed and closed the browser!

IMHO, suck them into the software first, and then let the software sell itself because it will :)

I personally use the declipper as a VST3 in Reaper a lot on drum or vocal tracks that were recorded too hot and sent by a client, so if ya'll could increase the sample size past 4096 to 8192 or higher for smaller FFT bins on high sample rates, there could be some real benefits there that should be easy to implement!

I think you're right about different people looking at this from opposite ends.

Being a broadcast engineer and long-ago having passed the free version as being adequate for anything, I know what top-of-the-line processors sell for.

Someone like me would be more likely to look the cost of the full package. Then, if there were features I was sure my client would never use, I might take certain things out.

Given that great technical innovators don't tend to be very good marketers, and vice versa, I think Hans and his group have accomplished some amazing products as their software has developed over the years.
