Nothing interesting, but I cleaned up some code (removed no longer used stuff) which slightly improved things:
- CPU load is about 1.7% lower
- .DLL (or .EXE) is about 35 kB smaller
- Memory usage is about 4 MB lower (now slightly below 20 MB for the DSP plug-in version), this might help if you're running Stereo Tool on a crowded server.

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... A502-1.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A502-1.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A502-1.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A502-1.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A502-1.exe

I'll continue this clean-up action until I've checked the entire code, so this is probably not the final 5.02 version. I'm posting it for people who are hitting a performance or memory wall.

Small update: Some more very small performance improvements, memory usage reduced a bit more.

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... A502-6.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A502-6.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A502-6.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A502-6.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A502-6.exe

Before I release anything I first want to fix this bug: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2639

Well what can anyone say when ST 5.02 is just that good? ;) I also had a bad dream that I was stuck in a sleeping bag and couldn't get out. Well if that doesn't derail this topic I dunno what will. ;)

Now using a simple data compression algorithm to reduce the memory used by the 'This sound is processed by Stereo Tool' recording. Binaries and installers are 8% smaller (DSP and stand alone installers are now below 800 kB again), memory usage down by 170 kB. No further changes.

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... A502-7.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A502-7.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A502-7.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... A502-7.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... A502-7.exe

The installers still won't fit on a single sided floppy, as someone pointed out some time ago... :-(

Open one of the older Stereo Tool versions (DLL or EXE) in an audio player, format 8 bit mono (unsigned). Then you'll find the recording among the rest of the data...

Luke: I have found some other options that make the file smaller again - maybe small enough :-)

But I'll first have to test if these options don't affect the performance. More tomorrow...
