I know, yet another bass filter. Mathijs was complaining that the bass still didn't sound right. It lacked warmth. We started experimenting, and at some point his reponse was "That's it!". So, we've worked on adding that specific bass. Somehow, I've never missed it, but when I listened to it in my car, I suddenly had the feeling that I was "bathing in bass". Hence the name "Immersive Bass". Interestingly, it is less noticable on my monitor speakers in our office. Earlier filters such as Basstardiser now sound "hollow" in comparison, and I would describe this new bass as "warm". The new "Dutch Chocolate Moose" preset is using it. Still work in progress, but it's close to Dutch Moose, with more of "that" bass. |

I would expect so... |

Version 9.20 is released! (Pfew. Running a release build is taking more than 24 hours now, using 4 4.0 GHz cores on an i7-6700K with SSD drive and 32 GB of memory). |

HVZ, it might be time for a i9 9900K. 24 hours is way too long... for a release of ST https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au ... 9900k.html Not sure of the compiler options, but alternatively, hold off a few months and get a real server based on Intel's Xeon Cascade Lakes. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel ... 38017.html |

I was already looking at the 9900. But something must be wrong, just 2 months ago a full build took 10-12 hours. 12 hours is acceptable (I start the build when I leave my office in the evening, the next morning when I come in it's ready). 24 is not. Well, unless I run the build during a weekend (or Christmas, like this time). But I have no idea why it suddenly started to take so much longer. It *might* be the AVX optimization in the code. But that actually doesn't seem very logical. Also, this is for a full build (all versions, Windows, Linux, Mac, Pi, 32 and 64 bit, stand alone, command line, DSP plugin, VST2 plugin, VST3 plugin, Carbon Coder plugin, our own plugin standard, plus WatchCat and MicroMPX). It's around 44 different binaires in total. So this is not what the usual nightly beta build is. This is only for a full release. |

Maybe the Xeon with multiple cores would be better, running parallel compiling, either sessions or separate VMs. Just a simple increase of a single Most Significant Bit in any encrypto function may indeed double the time to compile, especially now with mitigation of the Spectre (speculative thread execution) that seriously knocks around ALU results from the CPU on the Intel's. and don't even dream about going to the cloud else it may take a week to compile! Yeh, time for a new server beast Sir in the new year! |
