Hans,

Capture of MPX directly from Stereotool...

Along with the weird audio rolloff at around 10k to 16k, I also see spikes around both sides the pilot with it occasionally modulating it to around 0.3%

Just wanted to make sure this is normal behavior of MicroMPX or not?

Thanks

Rossco

Works fine on my Win 10 64 bit machine.

*Probably* the same issue that was reported by others - we know the issue and will fix it tomorrow. (There's no workaround at this point).

Hi Hans,

Thank you for the fix on the multiband clipper. I was able to set my clip levels with better ease. However, there's one thing that I noticed, and I'm not sure if this is by design or a slight oversight, but the Band Mix controls now seem to drive the clipper's input. Any band mix cut/boost will change the attentuation in the clippers respective to threshold. Previous to the addition of the clippers, the band mix controls only adjusted the output signal from the multiband compressor/limiter, basically to re-EQ the sound without adding more density. So from what I'm seeing now, the signal flow is; Limiter > Band Mix > Clipper. In the Quick Overview panel, it shows the flow as Limiter > Clipper > Band Mix. So I'm wondering, is the clipper supposed to be inserted after the band mix controls, or inserted before them? Probably before the band mix controls would be better?
Ah! That's indeed an oversight. Will look into it.

The weird rolloff is normal, the spikes are not though. What do they look like exactly?

And why is this "rolloff" ? As i see , this is a big amount of dB down, may be 20-25 dB. And even that from 10K above !? Is this sounds like "without highs" ??

On purpose or no bandbwidth ? I think this will not sound good...

No. Where do you even see 10K? There's extra stuff above 15K. That's all. Nothing is removed.

Ow, may be i was "slipped" from his post but if i look closely - yes, it`s above 15Khz..

Is it something like the 100Hz "step" in the ST? But bigger step. And the serious question is : Why ? It looks like "unwanted signal" . I mean: It`s an additional bandwidth, which means additional calculations, additional CPU timing( it may be not so much but..).
At least an option for "turning OFF" will be good ? What ya guys think about it?!

No, that's not how it works. µMPX is not a lossless codec. The rolloff is a side effect caused by the compression algorithm (which does not introduce MP3-like artefacts, but only white noise which is masked by FM anyway). The codec will never remove highs.

Thanks, looks more clear now.

The average peak is just below -72 on MPXTool but I have seen ones peak around between -72 and -60 that also seem to modulate the the pilot up to 0.5%
Does not seem to upset anything - audio quality/power is still as good as original.
From reading I can assume it is simply codec related.

Q: You are creating a clockshift_log.txt file - are you wanting them to uploaded somewhere to review or are they there just for debugging purposes?
