I bought the anthology of The Beatles ...

https://www.amazon.com/Beatles-Original ... 002BSHWUU/

... which feature all albums in stereo. "Unfortunatly" the 60s stereo mixed on 4 channel are not easy-on-the-ears using headphones, since you have 100% left/right channel separation with mostly only the singing voice in the center, but drums only on the left channel and guitars on the right.

I am going through the albums right now and create presets for each (the mastering changes drastically during the 60s due to the fast pacing technical development in the recording equipment) to create a more balanced modern stereo sound that make the tracks easier to listen to on headphones:

I post them here, if someone is interested.

I am also posting other "remaster" presets for other albums if I do some. Sources are usually Audio CDs.

The presets are using the classic multiband, so they are only compatible until Stereotool 7.40. The newer versions of Stereotool create distortions when the classic multiband is used. DL links here:

The preset are based on the Maximizer presets, individually tweaked for each music track, posted here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3831

Have fun!

I did a preset for the album "Californication" of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The album is mixed almost mono with a harsh, distorted (even clipped) sound.

The preset creates a more conventional stereo sound with a less distorted/clipped, smoother sound.

This preset was made for Herb Alpert's & The Tijuana Brass' "Going Places", changing the typical 60s' four-channel-stereo into a conventional modern stereo sound.

This is a preset for the classic 60's Jazz album "Time Out" of The Dave Brubeck Quartet, creating a more modern stereo sound:

This one is a preset for a single track from ABBA, "Bang-A-Boomerang". The original has almost a mono sound (very small stereo width). This preset widens it to a modern stereo sound.

The album "The Mirror Conspiracy" from the Thievery Corporation has the same problem. This preset brings it to a wide stereo sound.

ABBA's album "Voulez-Vous" is mixed thin on the bass frequencies, so this preset fixes that to give the songs a more modern punch.

Their album "Waterloo" is also a little weak on the bass side. Additional to that the early 70's stereo mix is a little rough, so this preset makes it smoother over the whole width.

The recordings from the Live Aid concert in 1985 suffer from a harsh sound mix with low bass and little punch and a inhomogeneous stereo image with most instruments in the middle and some on the far left/right. This preset polishes it to a smoother soundmix with good punch and a homogeneous stereo image over the whole width while protecting the music from excessive reverb of the stadium environment. It puts you front end center between the performance on the stage and the crowd in the stadium. ;)
