Hi all,

Latest version - Beta 10.22-051 (Apr 5 2024)

Downloads
Changes/bugfixes
  • REVERTED TO OLD PORTAUDIO VERSION - a crash has been reported in the new version.
  • REMOVED RDS2 - it doesn't work yet so no use to put it in a release; will be back in the first beta after 10.30 release.
  • Check that .ini is created on close immediately after starting. - YES, on Windows anyway.
  • Check that we can delete an instance without ever starting it. - Yes, worked without issues.
  • Updated IceCast from 2.4.5 to 2.4.6
  • Revert to IceCast 2.4.5
  • Try to add bass exciter/true bass metering.
  • Streaming display was purple, should have been yellow -> Fixed.

TODO's
  • Added RDS2 logo support! Working on all 3 carriers now, so it's relatively fast.
  • Add other presets
  • Release
    -
  • Re-enable PortAudio update
  • Re-enable IceCast 2.4.6 update
    -
  • MAIL
  • Check contracts Sent feedback
  • RDS2 BUSY
  • Fix stepping of sound card buffer sizes (without control/shift should be 1, not .1 or 10).
  • VST macOS Audition: GUI not displayed in Audition https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... 482&type=3
  • Multi-line translations fail (.stl)
  • Update Pi 5 image

    -
Compressor: Add a release hold, but only for massive drops. That will work similarly to a gate but automatically. And maybe combine that with a faster release after that time, to handle sudden drop protection automatically as well?
    -
  • Check compressor warning (or later)
  • Delay issue in MPX display; not synchronized with the audio.
  • Overview screen password protection: How should that work?
  • Overview screen: Error should be shown here.
  • RW
  • Advanced Clipper: Check and improve filter-vibrations code. Also make it for mids.
  • Mono bass for HD cannot be enabled without enabling the other "Reduce stereo" settings as well; needs to be split off just like for FM.
  • MicroMPX: Somehow detect and report number of incoming streams
  • Fix 1-channel mode devices for Mac, maybe support multi-instance
  • Do something to draw graphs even without audio
  • Pragma messages: Check and remove where possible
  • Check BIMP meter bar; dynamics section MB on/off removes top bar
  • MicroMPX: Add error checking for IP addresses, don't open if the address isn't complete. (Maybe wait for ENTER? - Web interface).
  • Figure out which settings to put in overview screen
  • Mac: If the sound card doesn't exist on startup and you try to close, nothing happens. Then attempting again crashes ST.
  • Fix all warnings
  • 2w things
  • NAB: MicroMPX overview of manufacturers?
  • Improve sound card error messages on STXtreme
  • Pi 5 version doesn't detect HifiBerry. -> Adding ,slave helps, but for which cards is this needed? Ask HifiBerry -> https://support.hifiberry.com/hc/en-us/ ... 4212871453
  • Run Valgrind on multi-instance.
  • MicroMPX: Extra priority setting for during startup.
  • Think about MicroMPX post processing performance. Is anything possible here? Just 2% less would probably be sufficient... Maybe remove scaling? -> No; no effect. Maybe do initializing at prio idle?
  • MicroMPX: “umpxDecoderGetStreamFeedback()”: the signal lost counter in umpxDecoderStreamInfo seems to be stuck or sometimes not to count up when there is no input (with pilot generation active, internal sync turned off). I can’t rule out the problem is on our side, but it was working before and I think we did not change anything handling the umpxDecoderStreamInfo.
  • Manual?
  • Streaming must read data from files from a separate thread, viewtopic.php?p=75718
  • New compressor: Can we add an automatic gate for Blue Monday? Detecteer harde tikken die even hard zijn als input maar toch steeds harder worden en te hard zijn.
  • Compressor: Test higher Boost level
  • STAMP license error message is only visible in the native GUI (which doesn't exist); how do we show it in the correct GUI (the one in which the button was clicked)? Same question for overview page.
  • DHD: Remove logging, probably.
  • DHD: Add FM Professional to purchase options on the site.
  • Fix Declipper issues reported in viewtopic.php?f=14&t=33774&start=30 and on Discord
  • Restart when sound card does not work is not working anymore
  • Some complaint about RDS in 10.20, viewtopic.php?p=75314
  • .st.gui_override does not survive firmware updates in SD card image; needs to look in root directory.
  • AES67: If a LiveWire port is selected under "Device" but nothing is detected there, that port number overwrites the active port field on preset loading. The pulldown itself cannot be changed if nothing is detected.
    -
  • Advanced Clipper: MAYBE make a filter that limits how much bass mids and highs protection can remove at the most. Can be done later.
  • Does Blue Monday with new compressor get better if I slow down reference release?
  • AGC: Most likely we'll also need to change the release behavior compared to the compressors.
  • AGC: Bojcha: Some other stuf really needed, - startup level - return to platform - gate after agc (please) - some sort of compressor or some protection for bursts like on old AGC - why freeze is not fully freeze (there is delay)
  • MicroMPX: Run as service?
  • Update clipper, optimize for new compressor
  • Preset exporting: Auto-fill file name.
  • Web interface: 2nd meter bar color is always orange, but must be less bright version of main color for input gain, MPX out etc. - Waiting for web interface update
  • Loading a Stereo Tool preset on PiMP also sets things like whitelist, blocking access.
  • Make RDS/RDBS selectable or something, independent of 50/75 us pre-emhpasis.
    -
  • New compressor: Matrix mode: Limiters work on L+R and L-R, instead of L and R. That's probably bad.
  • MicroMPX: Allow RDS settings in library?
  • PEQ in MicroMPX FM output?
  • VMware licensing 2w
  • M. mails! + Contract
  • Sensitivity scrolling vs sliding
  • MicroMPX: Check pilot cleanness in decoder if pilot frequency is slightly off (19005 Hz).
  • Add capture output soundcard??? (Wasapi loopback?)
  • Web interface: MicroMPX decoder display "ports" field gets too small after switching to another tab and then back, with a relatively small window. download/file.php?id=5827
  • Also, I notice when adjusting the buffer, there's no way to adjust by 1ms. There's 0.1ms (CTRL), 10ms (SHIFT), but it doesn't go by 1ms when no modifier is held. It would also be very handy to have the Synchronize with HD slider in between the HD and FM output cells instead of hidden in the More FM Output Settings.
  • Reset skin, and other things (basically anything that can be loaded?)
  • Pi: Make network settings changeable via web interface.
  • Startup delay on MicroMPX?
  • Upload SD card image updater somewhere
  • Update LiquidSoap links
  • mndxer1049: Better Natural Dynamics section with WB dynamic detection
  • mndxer1049: A very transparent, C-Level like new AGC design
  • mndxer1049: Auto Stereo Pilot
  • mndxer1049: Maybe: A button for putting all CPU settings at the maximum value and turning on all CPU intensive settings that only improve audio, but take quite a bit of CPU load. (ex. sliders like ‘Quality (increases CPU load)’ under DeClipper restoration, “Strictness (CPU)” and “Leif’s highs gap protection stages (CPU)’ under Clipper just to name a few of these ”CPU sliders” I’m referencing.)
  • Display bug in MPX display (weird spectrum glitches that occur occasionally)
  • Add streaming output to VST version?
  • In the audio input section I'd like to see options for speakers to be included without having the need to use virtual cables to route. I was thinking something similar to Rocket Broadcaster. There's input for mic and separate application source.
  • MicroMPX decoder: High frequency tilt correction is performed BEFORE data is collected for display, looks like overshoots.
  • Auto pilot
  • Redesign ND dynamics detection
  • Maybe add some frequency display to MPX display. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=33720
  • Remove 45 degrees angle in gonio meters viewtopic.php?f=16&t=33699
  • Add numeric displays to ITU and MPX levels in GUI viewtopic.php?f=16&t=33686
  • Insert/delete bands in multiband compressor, instead of (like now) just having to add/remove the last one when the number of bands changes.

    -
  • Non-phase linear: For example https://github.com/nxsEdson/Butterworth ... rworth.cpp
    -
  • gStreamer AES67?
  • STXtreme errors when reusing sound card
  • STXtreme set shared sample rate (instances can set different sample rates)
    -
  • Azimuth affects highs!!
  • Password change requires entering same password 3x first time
  • Password protection broken display after logout/change
  • Preset load page must be smaller for STXtreme
  • Cursor keys in web interface
  • Mac: VST3 GUI.
    -
  • Ratio slider smarter steps (1.1, 1.2 etc) - MattL
  • Meters: add separate FM/HD output level displays.
  • New compressor and matrix mode?
  • Add 0.05 precision to parametric EQ and attack/release multipliers
  • RDS: Add settings for how long texts are shown or how fast to scroll for UECP inputs.
  • AES67 generic mode: Let people enter IP address directly.
  • Add PWarnMini for Diff
    -
  • MicroMPX: Show temperature
  • MicroMPX: Show status per incoming port
  • Win10 scheduler appears to ignore ideal CPU cores since last (few) update(s)
  • Links: ID_GOTO must be a PLink that points somewhere.
  • Dynamic speeds: License detection only works after audio has been running, that's not ok.
  • When audio has run after a settings change, trigger a parsetChanged
  • Time offset on STXtreme, for RDS (also for ClockTime!)
  • New GUI: Support smaller monitors (smaller default size, especially for VST). Contact near05.
  • Export presets from web interface needs filtering, just like from native (so the code is there! Just reuse CopyPresetOm*).
  • Mac: VST2 sizes
  • Mac: gavinmcgrath: "Intel MacOS 11.7.3 in Wavelab 11.1: Blank screen." viewtopic.php?f=14&t=33391&p=73407#p73407
    -
  • Stand alone RDS decoder
    -
  • GUI: Check RGBLUT_Combine2 performance
  • CPU usage of REFRESH_ENABLED is high, maybe use local array.
  • PDcWave delay not set
  • Flashing peq/mb eq bars in GUI
  • Software update requires Admin rights
  • WatchCat: Keep track of when files have been processed and ignore them, but don't move them. (DropBox)
  • WatchCat: Can we include ffmpeg and lame?
  • Pens
  • Add latency wizard?
  • setFaultyValue for text boxes for wrong passwords for example - check with Tom how to use
  • Can we enable FM Calibration in "Ignore high frequencies" mode? Not easily
    -
  • Add check for running ST multiple times; make switchable if we want to allow it or ask if you really want to start if it already runs or something.
  • Matt: Pre-emphasize highs slider needs to get a clearer description! Something with avoid overshoots. Basically a sidechain EQ. "Add highs to sidechain".
  • Matt: UECP must be more easily accessible, too deep now.
  • Matt: FM+AM
  • Check EQMB_SCOPES
  • New I/O framework: Add extra latency to plugin input so the input 2 to LQLL can be instantaneous.
  • Check Bojcha's good bass HPF settings (18200 Hz, ignore high frequencies, 48 kHz, 35 Hz HPF)
  • libVLC with FDK???

  • Web interface: Where are the font sizes in stand alone/winamp etc? -> The parameter ID's were shifted; solved.
  • Make sublevels etc respond to "Hide" commands. Tom -> Was user error
  • Allow setting sliders etc to out-of-range values - by typing of JSON Tom? Maybe add a popup?
  • Fix "Installed" page.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Fixed bug that could cause bass to disappear with certain combinations of settings.
  • Optimized Adaptive compressor/Adaptive AGC slightly
  • Added RDS2 carriers; for now filled with random data, but this can be used to test effects on audio and reception.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Pre-clip: Changed the behavior; it affects bass and mids less now, with nearly no effect on highs.
  • Advanced Clipper: Remove legacy highs "method" under Bass/highs hole protecton.
  • Merge cleaned up Advanced Clipper code
  • Advanced Clipper: Improved "Sparkling highs" slope. The default setting for this was WAY too high, we now recommend values around or below 2. (Default used to be 70, so many presets will have far too high values).
  • Updated Adaptive Bass Monster presets

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Removed "Mid bass protection" from non-legacy mode; was bad.
  • Advanced Clipper: Check "Reduce voice vibrations" - it makes voices louder at the expense of bass, but is that good? -> Seems so. Moved to mids; we will probably make a better filter to replace this soon based on the new highs IMD filter.
  • Advanced Clipper: Optimize "mode 1"/"3" for performance; removed setting (non-Legacy is always mode 1 now; everyone seems to agree that mode 1 sounds best).
  • Advanced Clipper: Improved Pre Filter; it has more effect now. Hopefully we can fully replace Pre-Clip by Pre Filter, which has the same goal, almost the same effect, but far less impact on bass and mids. (Pre-Clip at -12 dB already made Pre Limit do absolutely nothing anymore.)
  • Advanced Clipper: Made the filtering of frequencies that are not responsible for IMD ("Ignore bass that affects total IMD less than", which is now a hidden internal setting) stronger (was filtering below -6 dB, now below -4.5; -3 seems to be ok but I think it's risky and not worth causing possible problems). Result is a few tenths of a dB less effect on the other non-problematic bass frequencies.
  • Advanced Clipper: Rename and reorganize and clean up GUI.
  • Advanced Clipper: Added 3rd legacy mode, with changes that should be safe (those that don't change the sound of a preset too much but do offer improvements)

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Transition from mids to highs for "Reduce bass" sliders is too high (5.5 kHz, should be around 2.5).
  • Advanced Clipper: Transition from mids to highs for protection sliders that dynamically lower the bass clipper was also too high (5.5), now also responds to setting.
  • Advanced Clipper: Improved bass clip stage; smoothed and cleaned up harmonics that can interfere with other audio.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: "Highs clipping mode" under Bass/Highs hole protection: Changed mode 1 to be much more precise in what it does and does not add; it no longer really affects the spectrum. And added a mode 3 that runs in multiple bands to prevent excessive mid-highs to be added; feedback on this is welcome (does it sound good or bad?). This might be a way to force more highs through on FM, but it might also sound wrong.
  • Advanced Clipper: ABDP: Redesigned the "Allowed highs distortion" algorithm. For now there's a (temporary) new checkbox for testing, "Allowed highs distortion new filter (TEST)". It greatly reduces IMD for some sounds; but we need to verify that it doesn't affect other sounds (by reducing highs, or making other highs have more IMD).

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Added "Highs clipping mode" setting under Bass/Highs hole punch protection, which reduces IMD and makes the highs louder at very little cost to other sounds. See viewtopic.php?f=14&t=33793&p=75969#p75969
  • STXtreme front panel: Fixed network button enabled state

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Are CPU settings such as composite clip lows/highs useful? If not, also disable them. One (oversampled pre-clip) was useless; the others were more useful than I thought; Composite Clip Highs is now enabled in "Sane maximum" quality mode instead of only in "Limitless". Gives a few tenths of a dB more bass and highs. Still off in Medium because the CPU effect is pretty big (about 10% on a full preset).
  • Advanced Clipper: Reorganize and remove as many settings as possible: Merge Bass/Highs Hole protection with ABDP. -> No, I can't, Bass/Highs Hole can be enabled separately... But they definitely influence each other, maybe copy just the frequency setting?
  • Disable unlicensed features did not turn off Adaptive mode

Changes/bugfixes
  • Multi instance: Overview screen may not turn black for logins
  • Advanced Clipper: "If it affects other sounds, reduce bass below" seems to protect 0.1 dB of highs at the cost of 0.6 dB in lows. Not worth it; it's much better to set the new highs protection settings a bit higher because they are way more targeted. Removed in non-legacy-from-hell mode.
  • Advanced Clipper: Pre Clip makes highs above around 8 kHz louder, but at the cost of making everything below 2 kHz quieter by the same amount. Not worth it, removed in non-legacy-mode-from-hell.
  • Advanced Clipper: "Smooth slopes" setting removed in Hell mode; always on.
  • Advanced Clipper: Is "Method" useful? The CPU difference between the 2 improved modes is small and there's a clear difference in output, so the only question is: Is "Legacy" mode there still useful. Compare with 7.85. -> It sounds really different, has a specific sound; keeping it.
  • Advanced Clipper: Removed "Ignore bass that affects total IMD less than" setting; default is fine.
  • Advanced Clipper: Removed some settings that were already unused in non-Hell mode.
  • Advanced Clipper: Renamed some settings to clarify what they do.
  • Advanced Clipper: New settings are now hidden instead of just disabled in Hell mode.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Determine good defaults for 2600 and Highest vs lowest highs and removed some settings.
  • Advanced Clipper: Slightly improved 2600 Hz shape.
  • Advanced Clipper: Is there a better shape to use (for example average of 3300 and 4200)?
  • DHD: Use syslog. See email 11 Mar 2024 16:43. To be tested, send email!
  • MicroMPX: Fix 1-channel input mode, also support 2. To be tested, send email!
  • Fixed service mode on Windows
  • DHD syslog: Remove time from format string - No, too much effort, not worth it.
  • DHD: Fixed asserts
  • Jack: Fixed crash on Ubuntu from 2016
  • Fixed crash in VST plugins.
  • -1 and JSON security

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Check what happens at 3000-4000 Hz with no clipping (0.05 dB effect, but it's wrong). - Partially solved. This was caused by a filter that was made to reduce mids IMD, but I'm not too sure that it actually has any useful effect. Added a new "Legacy mids IMD - TEST" checkbox; if nobody hears extra IMD with it off, we'll remove this feature completely (for non-Legacy mode).
  • Advanced Clipper: "Smoothe highs early (potentially more distortion)" doesn't appear to do anything; removed in non-Legacy mode.
  • Advanced Clipper: Stokkemask: Legacy mode (which sounds bad) removed in non-Legacy mode.
  • Advanced Clipper: Stokkemask: Stokkemask without composite clipping, which hasn't been maintained in years, removed in non-Legacy mode.
  • GUI: Mac issues with size detection fixed, might fix a crash in Ocen Audio (to be tested).
  • GUI: More optimized drawing code restored, which caused problems since a recent macOS update. MIGHT break older macOS versions, to be tested.
  • GUI: Warning about not loading an imported preset only shown after closing window.
  • Advanced Clipper: Mids clipper can cause gap/bump at 5000 Hz. Maybe lower end-of-mids frequency and have slightly less protection there? Or add an extra band? We can probably ignore this with lower frequency settings.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Deprecated Flat Highs which was introduced a few beta's ago, and changed name in the settings file so it's turned off by default - we'll probably remove it in the next build.
  • Advanced Clipper: Coupled some old legacy modes to Legacy mode from hell (if that's disabled, those other legacy settings are removed).
  • Just a remark: The new behavior changes the "Protect against highs above" slider behavior, and we suggest different values than before. Let us know what values you end up at. I'm not going list any range just yet...
  • Multi-instance: "Really" Remove an instance now makes backups of .ini and .presets directory.
  • GUI: macOS: Much sharper image on Retina displays.
  • GUI: Some fixes of issues that could (but apparently did not) cause crashes.

  • Advanced Clipper: Replaced one filter type by another that might reduce loss of mids around the start frequency of the highs.
  • Advanced Clipper: Added test setting to control "Highs brilliance". See this post: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=33793&p=75875#p75875

  • Advanced Clipper: Made priority part between different parts of the highs specrum smoother, and added small reduction above 14.5 kHz to boost the rest slightly.
  • GUI: Fixed black screen after deleting a preset in last few beta's.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Web interface: Fixed sending data through proxy; some links were broken because the proxy part of the URL was dropped.
  • Advanced Clipper: Created legacy mode switch. If you load an old preset it sounds as it did before; to make use of the improvements do 2 things: 1. Disable "Legacy mode from hell" under Loudness (open advanced settings). 2. Under ABDP, under "Highs protection", set "Reduce bass to avoid highs detection threshold" to 5%. Other values are now loaded at our new suggested settings, which might still require tweaking! Presets may need to be tweaked because the effect on the audio can be quite large.
  • Advanced Clipper: Tested and found more threading bugs that were introduced in the last few days; ran 400 presets through it with built-in checks to find all of them, so everything (reported crashes and I/O dropout messages in the previous few beta's) are hopefully fixed.
  • Fixed crash in previous 2 beta's (when "Limit instead of clip" was enabled)
  • Fixed I/O dropout message hangup in previous 2 beta's: Rewrote the multi-threading changes from the last beta's a bit..
  • Fixed mutli-threaded bug that has been ever since we supported multiple threads :When only doing FM, very occasionally (typically ever few minutes) a small chunk of HD output would be calculated and then discarded.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Filtering of the highs was broken (since a few years); the codec protection against distortion was accidentally enabled on FM as well if it was enabled (which it is by default) for HD out. Fixed, this can raise the highs on FM by up to 1.5 dB or so.
  • Advanced Clipper: Delayed bass punch clipping protection was also broken if it was used on both FM and HD.
  • GUI: Text drawing improved (selecting proper color depending on background etc)
  • GUI: If a widget is set to the default value, that setiting is now displayed in the context menu, but disabled. Before it was not displayed at all.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Can we use the new smart filter for Highs Priority as well? Yes.
  • Advanced Clipper: Huge bug in delayed punch bass clipper; with more than 1 thread each thread was measuring levels separately so the response was sometimes missing and often lasted way longer than configured, and could also be going up and down. This change required some threading rewrites, which are potentially a bit risky (could cause hangups).
  • Web interface: Try to make websockets run through https proxy server. Enabled; waiting for feedback.
  • Advanced Clipper: Maybe add end filter frequency setting for both bass and mids protections -> Meh, who cares, now that we have filtering anyway.
  • Advanced Clipper: Fixed issue that could cause the levels to be reduced between 1000 and 3000 Hz if the highs are clipped a lot in ABDP.
  • Advanced Clipper: Boost priority for highest highs vs lowest highs for much nicer sound at 75 us pre-emhasis. New parameter "Flat highs" under Highs settings (NOT under ABDP) Done, do listening tests tomorrow, maybe make frequencies configurable.
  • Advanced Clipper: Check distortion reported by Valiant. -> No change.

  • Advanced Clipper: Improved "Highs Priority" behavior, it was affecting all the mid frequencies up to 6000 Hz, now it stops working below around 250 Hz. Up t 0.5 dB better mids seen during loud highs.
  • Advanced Clipper: Can we stretch mids protection down to around 200 Hz? - No, added a smart filter instead which sounds a LOT better.
  • GUI: Fixed frequency label alignment (broken in last few beta's)

Changes/bugfixes
  • Password protection doesn't work between native and web interface in build without accounts
  • Advanced Clipper: Delayed clipping probably doesn't work as intended. -> Removed reduction of the effect if the bass level is dropped by the static vs dynamic threshold, this makes much more sense. Before this change, dynamic reduction would reduce punchy sounds even more. -> Removed again. This was already there.
  • Web interface still didn't work through https proxy server, found and fixed 2 places where it was explicitly using http.
  • Fixed minimum stack size error message on some Linux builds (Raspbian)
  • GUI: You couldn't leave Phase Delay window in last beta
  • GUI: Fake Stereo controls are properly disabled now if the filter is disabled
  • GUI: Text color inversion in last few beta's fixed.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Added Legacy mode for delayed bass clipper, THIS WILL BE ON after updating, so you probably want to turn it off immediately.
  • Advanced Clipper: Add (or fix existing) mids protection. Or maybe not... -> Yes, do
  • Advanced Clipper: Increased range for highs protection.
  • Advanced Clipper: Are Highs Priority and "Reduce highs IMD" the same thing??? - No, but close.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Advanced Clipper: Fixed a bug that could make delayed bass clipping actually *reduce* the amount of (mainly upper) bass, the exact opposite of what it indends to do.
  • Advanced Clipper: Attempt to reduce effect on bass of "Highs Priority" -> Added threshold setting which makes it do nothing unless it's really needed.
  • Advanced Clipper: Attempt to reduce effect on bass of "Reduce bass to avoid highs distortion" -> Changed default value for threshold setting, that helps a lot.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Remove Declipper plugin ifdefs in os.h
  • Rewrite of web native and web interface meters.
  • MicroMPX: Pause main processing if post processing is lagging behind and buffer is filling up. Does not appear to be needed anymore. Although I guess it could still potentially help.
  • Updated Raspberry Pi image and firmware for Pi 5 (this time it really works) (not yet uploaded)
  • Improved MicroMPX decoder performance with about 1%.
  • Web interface didn't work through HTTPS proxy, now it should.
  • GUI: Color inversion for texts if different parts of sliders (for example) are dark and bright
  • GUI: Fixed widget height issue, back to the original heights from a while ago.
  • GUI: Moved things that can be set in a specific instance to that instance, instead of global, making removing instances simpler (and hence safer).
  • Web interface: Fixed meter display issues in previous 2 beta's.
  • RDS encoder: Add support for UTF8 input for characters like æ ø å

Changes/bugfixes
  • Crashes in BETA010: Increased stack size for LAME (streaming, to normal size) and processing (compressor, to 128 kB).
  • MicroMPX decoder: Very very minimal performance optimizations for MicroMPX: Some MicroMPX+ data was written to memory even if not using MicroMPX+.
  • MicroMPX: Added library parameter for "niceness" during error recovery, for testing only (this is not the final implementation).
  • VST3: Added same protection against broken GUI size settings to VST3 as in VST2; removed CPU masks for VST3 as well.

BETA010 known issue: Streaming crashes; apparently LAME needs a bigger stack.

Changes/bugfixes
  • MicroMPX: “umpxDecoderGetBufferFillIgnoringGaps()” works fine, but after the buffer ran empty after input loss, after pilot generation starts, the value returned suddenly rises from 0 to a “high value” (e.g. something like ~1300 milliseconds) even when there has been no input meanwhile. When IP input starts again, the value returned recovers to a reasonable level.
  • Reduced Stereo Tool address space (which is NOT the same as memory usage) by about 30 MB on Windows, typically 60 MB on Linux, 15 MB on Mac. This won't normally have any impact, but it might allow running more plugins in 32 bit mode simultaneously. We reduced the stack per thread. This change is a bit risky; if you encounter crashes, please let us know, and send us your settings file so we can hopefully reproduce them.
  • More VST size fixes.

Changes/bugfixes
  • Added index to duplicate sound card names to separate them - hopefully. Question is what happens after rebooting etc.
  • VST: Rewrote and simplified window size and DPI code. Hopefully works in all hosts now.
  • VST colors: Cut off last bit, will hopefully fix color looping issue when changing skin
  • Check VST 0-size issue, probably caused by bad preset which sets font sizes to 0.
  • VST2: Saving CPU masks fails; remove them.
  • Fix of cleanup code that could potentially cause crashes in the previous beta's.

Changes/bugfixes
  • MicroMPX: DHD-version: Fix NIC name usage
  • STAMP: Fixed licensing bug, caused automatic licensing to fail.
  • Added --full-version command line option to get full version info including beta versions.
  • New compressor: Add automatic limiter adjustment (2-3 days) - Tested but disabled for now, not convinced that this is a good idea.
  • MicroMPX: Aqua-version: 32 bit Pi 3 with MAC's. To be tested.
  • MicroMPX: Aqua-version: Verify no FFT's done on GUI stuff when using JSON commands.
  • MicroMPX: Verify that no GUI stuff is done at all in the library builds (OldSamples etc).
  • Return value of GetLicensed library function is wrong.
  • Compressor: Test peak mode - Tested, MIGHT be slightly better...
  • MicroMPX: Added thread names, 2wcom.
  • Fixed gui thread starting/stopping (was this broken in 10.21?)
  • Temporary partial fix for tiny VST windows.

  • DHD: MicroMPX: Removed all FM features for DHD2 (it cannot run MicroMPX)
  • DHD: MicroMPX: Change how the 2 port numbers work (pulldown)

  • Fixed "flipping" displays, which could happen in very rare circumstances. .At least typing and en caret are fixed.
  • Pressing "enter" randomly selected a text field, fixed.
  • Instance names: If there is no name, we display "Instance #" without setting the actual title.
  • Removing MicroMPX output lines was broken in the GUI, fixed.
  • DHD: Max MicroMPX outputs reduced to 2, with fixed ports.
  • DHD: NIC selected limited to valid settings, with clearer names.

  • Possibly risky: GUI optimizations, CPU usage down by quite a bit. About 40% lower on the meter overview page, 75% lower on pages with very few moving elements.
  • Very risky: New multi-instance version, with 1 window instead of separate windows per instance, and a new overview page.

In the Declipper VST 32 plugin, it's set to open up on launch. I don't see a setting to stay minimized. Also, as I posted earlier, please consider re-adding the Azimuth correction filter to the declipper plugins. Thank you for updating this!

I agree, it would be nice to have all the basic options of Stereo Tool without the additional(post-repair) processing modules. I figured they would base both off the same under-the-hood/gui builds, and maybe they try to, but this last build does appear to have some things missing (aside from just the declipper scopes). The hard limiter toggle is missing, the license mechanism wants to say the VST is unregistered after registering until relaunching the plugin (vst2-32), the 64-bit VST2 is broken, Azimuth isn't there, preferences in Applications Settings are missing, etc.

Some things my young Gen-Z ears have caught with the new compressor in testing:

- On Adaptive Bass Monster, I heard levels adjusting/pumping just slightly enough to notice during the middle of a chorus in a song.

- Adaptive Bass Monster: I noticed that the levels seem to just slightly duck down a bit on choruses/loud parts, but recover and seem a bit louder during the verses/quieter parts.

- Adaptive Bass Monster: Choruses/loud parts of songs seem to lose a bit dynamics and thin out a bit.

- Adaptive Bass Monster: Voice, especially female voices can be extremely harsh sounding. Not as much on male voice. But that probably should be looked into. Reverb may have something to do with it in the dense preset of A.B.M., but I’m not totally sure.

Hello. I'm using VST 64 in VirtualDJ. With 1022-002 when I click something (for example "Repair") the interface doen't update to my clicks. I have to close and reopen the interface, then I see that "Repair" certainly was selected at my the previous click.

Interesting. I'm trying VirtualDJ right now and I'm not figuring out how to load plugins. The help section on the website doesn't help.

However, I did notice some strangeness in visual elements disappearing when running in fullscreen on my 4k monitor with DPI scaling.

I also read in their forums that VST3's are now functional. I would recommend trying that version over the VST2.

I put the VST2 64 bit DLL in the VirtualDJ\Plugins64\SoundEffect folder.
Don't know if VST3 is supported but will try it.

We have worked on improving the behavior on several of these in the last days; I have visited a local station that was using the Adaptive Bass Monster Dense preset and later spent several hours with someone who sets up lots of stations and we tried to fix these effects. I apparently didn't really have songs where this caused issues in my test set; I do now.

Here are a few changes that we made:
  • We slowed down the attack to 750. So that's a lot slower, which helps against short loud sounds that caused some ducking.
  • Added gating on the MB,
  • Set Level drop compensation more aggressively, so it's pulling up soft pieces much more. This helps not only when a new song starts, but it also causes the level to be increased faster after a loud chorus.
  • Increased Window, but made it work less strongly on release. While making the window act stronger on release sounds nice, it slows down recovery after loud sounds.
  • Using clipping and limiting now, and changed the limiter types for some of the bands.
  • Reduced band linking, which tends to make ducking problems much worse.
  • Increased 'Dense audio level boost' by 1 dB, this makes (based on test) very loud choruses about 0.5-0.8 dB louder.
The slower attack greatly reduces the level effects on loud choruses. The limiting and clipping removes the start of something loud which makes everything sound much "tighter" and more controlled, although it will cause some loss of punch so we might need to tweak the settings further.

Here's the resulting preset. Please note this this is work in progress; we spent some time on it last week but weren't finished yet.

Ducking on chorus seems to be far less of an issue when running in peak mode instead of RMS mode. I'm planning to look into that tomorrow. But just switching the detection from RMS to Peak might help quite a bit. Of course that does come at a cost in consistency.

Right, I have no VirtualDJ folder in my documents folder. The tutorials appear to be for a previous version or something. Let us know if the VST3's work.
