Hi,guys i would have a problem, my system is windows 7 64 bit! my soundcard is juli@!
I realized that if I use Fm trasmitter(stereo tool) with the option stereo and doing various tests, output is mono, take off the option stereo from (stereo Tool)is the output from my sound card is again stereo.
I did Test with airomate and Breakaway Broadcast Processor and nothing changes!
concluded that my system and my sound card working well only that the stereo tool to exit when is active my sound card magically becomes mono.
Sorry my englaise

Hi Salvo,

If you enable stereo encoding, the output will SOUND as mono, because the stereo (difference between left and right channel) data is in the 23-53 kHz range which you cannot hear. And both channels will play the same sound (if you connect it to an FM transmitter, you only need a single channel).

So unless I misunderstood something this behavior is correct.

You're talking about the sound card output, NOT the output when you transmit that output through a (mono) FM transmitter and listen on an FM receiver, right?

If you're using the Winamp plugin and you ARE playing the output through an FM transmitter, you need to use "Direct Sound Card Access" because Winamp doesn't allow changing the sample rate for the output - which means that (for most recordings) the audio above 22 or 24 kHz is filtered out, leaving no stereo info (the stereo pilot tone is still there though, so the FM indicator of the receiver should still indicate stereo reception).

With those settings the sound card output is SUPPOSED to sound mono - if you transmit it through a mono FM transmitter though you should receive a stereo signal on your FM receiver. (That is, if the sound card and transmitter can handle high enough frequencies).

What I don't understand is that with those other 2 programs you hear the output in stereo - are you sure that you've configured them for FM output using stereo encoding?

When you check the box in the top corner to turn on fm transmitter and you check the "encode stereo" box, what will happen is stereotool will generate an MPX (multiplex) signal specifically designed for going directly through an fm transmitters mono input, which will then be heard in stereo on an fm receiver.

It is NOT designed to go through speakers, I've read somewhere that if you do that, you could end up damaging your speaker system (you need to have a program like MPXTOOL to decode it and make it safe for listening/calibrating)

EDIT: argh beaten to it by hvz
