So if the Xonar U5 is good, has anyone tried the U7?

I'm looking for something that will work with both FM capable analog out and also SPIDF non-FM out (not both at the same time of course).

I have read that other Xonar devices are not good, but I think these are the internal cards, right?

As promised, to several I spoke with at NAB, here are links to the 2 sound cards I have tested with that work for FM in Stereo Tool.

http://www.audioscience.com/internet/pr ... si581x.htm
PCI-Express and Costs around $550

http://www.asus.com/us/Sound-Cards/Xonar_U5/
USB and Costs around $70, must have all effects turned off in sound card control panel

Both support 192Khz sampling at both 16 and 24 bit resolution.

As always, in Windows, you must go into the "Playback Devices", right click on the output interface you want to use selecting properties, go to the advanced tab, and from the drop down select the 192Khz option, or the output will not pass the full FM signal.
I have the AudioScience 5810, what is the best way to connect this to the Composite input of a Harris Digit-CD Exciter using Analog? Which analog outputs and how to make the balanced outputs unbalanced @ composite input to Exciter?

In windows 7 - pro - 64, what would the setting be for the soundcard to output the needed 192 analog signal? I have been running ST into the AES input @ 48 khz but I'm not getting all the features wanted/needed.

Thanks

Our little LPFM station can not afford a $550 sound card, but we want to use the FM features and RDS.

Is there anything cheaper that can do the job and do it well?

Check this: http://www.esi-audio.com/products/julia/

I have this card and totally satisfied with it. It is working almost 24/7 with Stereo Tool without any kind of problem more than 2 years.

Greg,

Sorry I'm just now seeing this, I haven't been on the forum much these past few months. If you didn't already figure it out, the best way to do this is to get a XLR to BNC adapter, I have several Neutrik adapters that I have purchased from my dealer.

Just want to kick this again.

I talked to Matt at NAB, but forgot most of what he said.

Here is what I have:

iMediatouch into a VS300.

I want to put ST 8 or 9 in the middle and these are my questions:

1) I currently run analog L/R into Nautel, but want RDS so do I go the MPX route, can I Livewire with RDS or other input method?
2) Do I need Arctic Palm RDS middleware or can I just have ST read an HTML file with the artist and title?
3) Can I use the U5 USB sound card for this?
4) Anyone have a guide on what to turn ON and OFF on the VS300 when ST feeds.

I'm sure there is more, but that will get me started.

IH
